Rambling ideas for replacers for vampire armour...

So I've been working on a comprehensive replacer for a lot of the outfits and started thinking about how the Vampire armours have always seemed a bit goofy to me. I mean, there's nothing obviously wrong with them, I just don't like them much.

 

I stopped thinking about it for a bit, but a little while ago, the devs confirmed that Serana had been locked up late during the Interregnum (which lasted from about 1000 years before Skyrim takes place to 600 years before Skyrim, so the Volkihar stuff was about 700-600 years before Skyrim). If you're not familiar with that era, there's a number of notable events

 

- The period began when the last Akaviri potentates were assassinated (the last few centuries of the second empire puppet Cyrodilic emperors were ruled by Akaviri "potentates" behind the throne).

- No real Cyrodilic empire unifying Tamriel, just feuding warlords and pretender claimants

- There's also a huge attempted Akaviri invasion (the second and final), by snowbeastmen and Tsaesci which targeted the north of Tamriel

- The period ends when Tiber Septim becomes Emperor

- TES Online takes place during this time and a big story event in that is that Molag Bal tries to take over Nirn and merge it with Coldharbour. There's no official connection in the games between the Dawnguard storyline and the TESO plot, but it's suspiciously close in time to Valerica fleeing Harkon (more accurately, it would have happened AFTER the merger attempt failed. So it's very possible that sacrificing his daughter/wife was Harkon's backup plan or some kind of response to Molag Bal. We don't actually know what Harkon's relationship to Molag Bal was during that time, so there's a lot of different things that might've happened there.

 

So I got to wondering a bit what might look cool for a Vampire who dates to that era to be wearing? Or even if it's not tied to that era, I'm trying to think of cool alternative Vampire light armours which have several variations? The multiple Akaviri connections are interesting, but that's far from the only possibility. Another is to have something very Molag Bal themed. Or hell, just anything that looks cool.

 

Anyone have any good ideas?
