Tirloque Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Hi modders and LL fellows ! I'm doing stories featuring my characters in the blog section, and for scenario's sake I've come to the point where I need my characters to meet. Wanting to add them as an controllable followers in .esp (rather than adding them in the saves with Familiar Faces), I've messed with the creation kit and managed to get past some but not all of the problems awaiting inexperienced modders, the most problematic one being adding HDT hair on my newly created follower. I've tried SureDude's technique which consists in creating the hair as a wig in the creation kit, to then get the NPC to equip it but I'm stuck when it comes to effectively display the hair in the preview : — I get an « object has a skin instance that is not dismemberable. Add W array to object in max » error message — The physically enabled parts appear like being sucked by the floor in CK's preview — And do not appear at all ingame I'm wondering if I shouldn't try to add a BSDismemberSkinInstance in nifskope, but apparently the tutorial author didn't need to, and secondly i can't get it to appear as a node but only as a full new block which I don't know how to fill. So maybe it's not the answer. So, I don't know what to do, and was hoping some of you guys could show me a way out ! I'll put the wig's mesh as an attached file below, but as I'm gonna need to create other characters what interests me is learning how to fix that mess. Thank you ! MaliTopGorgeous2.nif
Tirloque Posted September 5, 2017 Author Posted September 5, 2017 Ok, I solved it. That was a CK issue linked to the fact that I made the .esp for the wigs and the one for my follower separately. For some reason the outfit is considered invalid if I do so, but not if I do all the edits at the same time. The mesh was mostly ok, even if I finally used one with Nifskope reconfigured. Might be good to know for those trying to recreate their chars with the CK : if you want to use a new objecti/outfit for your char, create the object and add it to your NPC at the same time.
