gtcard Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 so im max level at 81, and for whatever reason due to my combination of mods, seems like everything in the world leveled with me. that means pretty much everything is level 40 and above, and the only souls im getting with soultrap effects are grand souls. this is a problem because i usually have just a few empty grand soul gems, but i have a ton of greater/common gems--like 2 or 3 grands and 50+ of the others. i have no way to fill those gems up quickly because well i just can't find any souls of a lower tier than grand. i see mods like acquisitive soul gems and smart souls which keep lower souls from entering larger stones, but i really don't see any good way to do the reverse, which is forcing larger souls to fill smaller gems. i know i can use soul gem oven to fill those gems, and even put those gems into my PC one by one. however SGO takes time to fill, and i never really needed soul gems until i finally got to dawnguard dlc and found out enchanting fireblast to my crossbow and using it to shoot people charging at me with swords and axes is the most satisfying thing ever. but this depletes charges and my SGO cycle is set to 1 week, so there's plenty of time when i don't have soul gems to recharge the crossbow with. so i'm wondering if anyone can make a mod that lets the PC fill a single or a number of soul gems via masturbation. maybe make a power to let the user select which type of gems to fill, and how many of it, then play a solo animation with the duration extended depending on type and quantity of gems being filled. then just replacing the specified empty gems with filled ones once the animation is over. i think it will add some context to actually playing a masturbation animation, as there's really not a lot of emphasis on solo animations with most mods out there. will be really cool if anyone with scripting knowledge can cook this up
Varithina Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Hmm, from what I am aware in this regards, it is the type of enemy not their level that dictate what type of soul gem they fill, so go hunt skeevers, wolves and such to fill the lower tier soul gems, though one of the mods you have installed may change that, another option is there are a few mods around that allow you to combine smaller empty soul gems to create bigger ones, that would sort of deal with your problem as well.
ppp Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 No, it's their level. Skeevers and such are just capped really low. As an aside, this is why Giants have smaller souls (Greater) than Mammoths (Grand). (Who's herding who again?) While I don't know of any way to do this using any existing mod, you might be able to do something with other mods. I would suggest using SexLabUtil in some way, but I don't think it can detect masturbation. Magical College of Winterhold has a crafting station that allows for the breakdown of Soul Gems into fragments, then back into Soul Gems, but that may be too much for your taste. Still, you could strip out the crafting station and add it to a custom .esp. Or not bother with the unique crafting station. There are a number of other such mods on the Nexus, as Varithina said, just search for Soul Gems and you should find some. Wintermyst had an enchantment that filled 1-5 Soul Gems per day. I say 'had', because while it is still available on the Nexus, it's been abandoned and replaced with Summermyst. You could use that script, just speed up the rate. Speaking of... Summermyst has an enchantment that recharges equipped weapons. Due to a bug in the engine (I think), it can only recharge up to the amount when your weapon was equipped. If you unequip your crossbow, to cast some spells, for example, the charge when you unequipped it will become the new 'maximum'. Filled Soul Gems still recharge to the actual maximum. You'd probably have to go hunting for the enchantment, though. It's not a scripted effect, so you could make your own version fairly easily. You could also look into Soulfire or Mysticism - The Lost Art (the sequel/replacement) on Nexus. They allow you to recharge enchanted weapons with your Magicka.
gtcard Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 thanks for pointing those out. i have looked at the nexus and maybe i'm just not searching for the right words; i'm finding mods which make sure smaller souls don't get trapped into larger souls, but i'm having a hell of a time trying to find a mod that fills a smaller gem with a larger soul, capped at that gem's capacity (ie: soultrap grand soul and fill a greater gem with greater soul). the soul saver seems to do this with a script, but that script only applies to vanilla soultrap spells, and not the spells from forgotten magic. and even if it did apply to FM, i'm not sure how i feel about running that script on the AOE effect of cursed rune, running 1 instance of that script per enemy i hit. seems really clunky and i'm just kind of surprised that there isn't a way to deal with this in the vanilla game...because getting to max level is an inevitability. ideally though, i was just looking for some pretense to actually play solo animations with SL, since in my normal setup, there really any incentive to. i can do it any time i want by holding down the N key with SLA redux, but i just don't like starting an animation without a reason another option is there are a few mods around that allow you to combine smaller empty soul gems to create bigger ones, that would sort of deal with your problem as well. this is actually pretty interesting. do you know which mods can do this?
gtcard Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 You could also look into Soulfire or Mysticism - The Lost Art (the sequel/replacement) on Nexus. They allow you to recharge enchanted weapons with your Magicka. hmm i took a look at mysticism and it appears to have a transmute spell to turn greater into grand gems. 1:1 seems kind of OP and i'm going to test to see if it's only greater -> grand, but if it works from petty all the way up to grand, i can probably adjust it a bit to have it consume more reasonable amounts of empty gems to make next tier gems

It explicitly has an option to allow larger Souls in smaller Gems. Gems still only fill to their limit, though. So a Grand Soul with a Large Gem results in a Large Soul Gem (Large) instead of a Large Soul Gem (Grand). There's also Soul Gem Exchange which allows you to go to vendors to charge your Soul Gems for a fee.
gtcard Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 i saw soul gem redone, but i also found a reddit post from elianora from 3 yrs ago (about the time of sg redone's release) mentioning how ppl are getting random ctds with it installed. i avoided it since the mod doesn't seem to have received an update in 3 years, so i will assume that the ctds are still applicable. varithina actually opened up the possibility of just combining smaller gems into larger empty ones. i'm honestly shocked that this completely flew over my head hahaha. i found a mod "craftable soul gems" that does precisely this, letting me combine smaller ones into larger ones by simply adding some recipes, no scripts, no fluff. that's exactly what i'm looking for and i can probably save an esp slot if i just add the recipes to an existing esp
ppp Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 On the one hand, people complaining about random CTDs may or may not have done the proper testing to determine that the mod they're complaining about is the cause. See: the comment thread of every major mod ever. On the other hand, if you're satisfied with converting soul gems by breaking them down and crafting larger ones, that's certainly simpler and more reliable. I'm glad you found what you needed. The original masturbation idea is interesting, but a lot harder to implement.
Varithina Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 another option is there are a few mods around that allow you to combine smaller empty soul gems to create bigger ones, that would sort of deal with your problem as well. this is actually pretty interesting. do you know which mods can do this? I do remember seeing them but not the specifics, though from what little I do remember they were part of another mod, basically and addition or side part to it. Not being too specific is mainly due to me creating my own versions in my custom edits esp, so I did not pay that much attention to them.

The original masturbation idea is interesting, but a lot harder to implement. this is true, but these are ctds that happen on soul trap events with that mod installed, and elianora also corroborated that disabling the mod removed the ctds. i gave her a bit more credit than most random complaints. as for the original masturbation idea--PSQ already allows creation of items upon masturbation (succubus fluid). i actually made the succubus fluid an fuel for starting campfires to use with frostfall, since i was really bummed that burnt books still didn't work properly as fuels in conjured shelter campfires despite having reported it several times already. works out really well if you ask me; masturbate to start a fire so you don't freeze to death hahaha. if i had to hack something together, i can just make the succubus fluid an actual soulgem. however what i would need help with is to actually remove a soul gem when one is spawned, so that i'm not just getting additional items without removing existing clutter.
gtcard Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 actually upon writing that something just hit me--i can just make a new recipe that requires succubus fluids to combine with soul gems, in order to make a higher tier gem. that's good enough for me lol problem solved
ppp Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 masturbate to start a fire That's one way to keep warm... Also, Hooray for random flashes of inspiration! Even better, it's kinda-sorta justifiable. Since you have SGO, something's clearly going on in there. You may just be adding the material soul gems are made of anyway. The real question then is: How do they get into Geodes in Blackreach?
