Ursur1major Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 A few months ago, in wait for a few mods to come out I stopped playing skyrim for a while, I had not changed anything and the game was just as I left it when I tried to start it up through Mod Organizer earlier today. I start it up through SKSE as normal, and the SKSE window shows up, but it stays up for a unreasonably long time, after a few minutes it closes down and nothing happens for another few minutes, then a small black skyrim window appears in the top left corner and immediately stops responding, eventually it asks if I want to close it down. I've tried this without mods, exact same response, reinstalled the game, exact same response, trying to start the game through steam won't even get me to the launcher, just a perpetual "Preparing to launch The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" message. I'm on windows 10 and I can post my computer specs if it necessary, but I've not added or removed any hardware since I last played it, it just decided to stop working. Thank you for your time. Edit: Thought I had fixed it, turned out I had not, see 3rd post down for additional details
Lozeak Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 If the game won't start up through steam then it's very likely something to do with the installation (potentially a your saved games try archiving you saves) So my suggestion is just delete the skyrim folder then verify installation (or uninstall then delete folder then reinstall) Then load it in steam, if that works install SKSE then try on mod organiser.

That fixed it, took all day to reinstall skyrim with my potato internet but I should now be able to play properly. Thank you for your time
Ursur1major Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 It appears I spoke too soon, regular skyrim works now, and I can launch it through steam, but the exact same problems as listed above exist for SKSE. I've reinstalled SKSE, I've cleared all the .ini and .log files in Documents, I've cleared steam download cache, restarted the computer some more for good measure, nothing.
