Getting a Clue won't appear

So I have been stuck with this issue for at least a month now. I have tried this in 3 different playthroughs and all of them end up with the same bug. After I complete the Unlikely Valentine quest, Nick will either stay at the vault exit as a mute if I requested to follow or meet him in Diamond City. The quest itself doesn't show up at all and when I tried to inspect it in the console, it was stated to be paused.  He later shows up in his office and begins his conversation with Ellie and gets comfortable at home. When I am told to sit down to discuss my case with him, he refuses to speak to me, and when I try to talk with him he only gives me generic responses. I am able to complete his case file side quests but am still unable to complete anymore of the main story due to this. This has occured both with normal mods and alternate start mods. I was wondering if there were any specific mods that caused this issue. Any helps is appreciated!

There is apparently an issue between ASIA and Start Me Up and it affects Nick Valentine.  Check the comment section of StartMeUp for a note from the SMU author.  It's probably going to need a patch to fix.

While I'll certainly keep this in mind, this issue occured even before I downloaded either of those mods. From what I could tell from my research there doesn't seem to be a specific mod that I'm aware of that causes this issue.

while it might not be relevant to your problem, i am seeing a lot of files that might not be used at all such as the Live Dismemberment mods that i believe only the last Live Dismemberment mod is getting used because all of them changes the same thing in each mod.

 

so get yourself a copy of FO4edit and slowly look over some of your mods (and remember to back up the mods)
