Inconsistant face body texture mismatch - Sidearmf93 bandit.

Hi. I am hoping someone can help me understand what is going on here.

 

I am using Sidearmf93's bandit npc replacer. For the majority of npc's it works perfectly. Great mod. And then every now and again I get one that has a mismatch. I don't understand why. Here is a picture of 4 stormcloak soldiers I spawned using the identical console command,  player.placeatme 37b67 1.

As you can see, the 2 on the left have the mismatch, the 2 on the right work perfectly. So, I don't understand how he is making them different, given they have the same id. And I don't understand why some of them are good, and some aren't. And I would love to know how to fix it. I read somewhere, that I need ECE, to use Sidearm's mods, so I installed that. This shot was taken with it installed. (I also have racemenu installed, I placed ECE above it as per the instructions on the mod page). This doesn't seem to have made any difference at all.

I have legendary edition.

 

I think the problem is a missing texture, or a bad texture path in a couple of the nifs. I think. It seems that the mod takes the id of the npc, then assigns one of the many nifs from the bandit.esp folder, or the skyrim.esm folder within the meshes folder structure to create the face. I would like to know how to find out which one the mismatch faces are using, but there are so many. Mfg console doesn't want to tell me (or I don't know how to make it tell me), and I haven't found anything that points to a particular npc when I open it in TES5edit, just the base npc, which when spawned could be male or female (and then have one of many faces). Then mb I could fix the texture path in nifskope, or just delete the mesh entirely. It seems like it is only a couple that are effected.

Hm, I wonder where those darker textures head come from. They don't look vanilla, or vanilla replaced by some skin texture pack.

 

Is it possible that you have an other mod that randomly replaces face textures? There are many mods out there that do something like that. Maybe you got two installed, and Sidearms doesn't overwrite them all.

I have a lot of npc mods. But in this particular case, according to TES5Edit, the only thing touching the stormcloaks is Sidearm and USLEEP. (Why does USLEEP add tints? very strange. I read a thread about it, saying it was to do with Mod Organiser, the ck, and the way MO handles BSA's, but I didn't really follow it all) and MFG console reports the last base change coming from USLEEP.

 

But USLEEP is touching sooo many of my NPC's without any problems, and is touching all my Stormcloaks, and there is only a problem with the occasional one. So I don't think this is the issue.

LOOT likes my load order, all my npcs like my load order (except for a random stormcloak) and my game is very stable. But mb someone can see an issue?

also ... jh_elf.esp is a Sidearm mod. And I have had no issues with it at all. Great mod. I also redownloaded the bandits (it is actully called bandit2 on the Navercafe page - banditfemale.esp in the load order) thinking mb I had a corrupted d/l, but that changed nothing.

 

Sidearm is a very well respected Korean modder. Perhaps the most well respected Korean modder. I highly doubt the problem is with a 2 yr old mod of his ... but I am at a loss to explain it.

 

For now I will just continue to disable them when I see them, and let the game spawn a replacement in it's own time.

Well, I also have the issue that USLEEP overwrites faces / texture files, even though my installed texture mod is way later in the loading order. That seems to be a USLEEP issue, not by the mod replacer you installed. So, question is, what can be done about it, within USLEEP.

 

I tend to say: most likely this will be solved by adding this bug report on the USLEEP page on the nexus. Or on the DL page of the NPC replacer. This needs a patch.

Just to resurrect a very old post for others searching for this issue. I have just spent the last few days converting all the JH make-over's to SSE, in doing so I located the source of most of the issues with black faces or bad textures... the facegen nif files refer to an older un-tidied version of SG Hair Pack 268. So whilst the esp will look fine linking to the new one, many or most of the nif files have bad header names for the blocks. There are also multiple cases where the nif file rather than using the correct path to the autogen texture, points to EEC generated facetints (which are not supplied).

 

I am in the process of correcting each and every single nif file manually. So far so good.. in SSE I now have almost all npc's successfully converted and displaying as they were intended. I am not sure how to reach Sidearmf93 so it is unlikely that I will be able to obtain permission to distribute these files myself. If however, anyone does have a contact email for Sidearmf93 please message me.
