Headerman Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Hi guys, Been downloading some mods ready to install for the STEP project. Thought first i would install Tes5edit and clean the update.esm file as displayed in Styep 2.B here: http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.10.0 In the first case, you should now do the following: Restore the backed up Update.esm from step 1 to the data directory. In Mod Organizer, at the bottom of the left pane modlist is the Overwrite mod, now labeled red because files have been written to it. Double-click to open it. In Overwrite you will find two items: a TES5Edit Backups folder and Update.esm. Since you already restored your own backed up Update.esm to the data directory, right-click and delete the TES5Edit Backups folder and click [Close]. Right-click Overwrite and select [Create Mod...], name it Cleaned Update ESM, and click [OK]. Drag and drop the new Cleaned Update ESM mod to the top of the left pane modlist. Cleaning the ESM itself, taking a backup etc is all fine and dandy. However re-installing it is a little confusing. I managed to "create a mod" in MO and call it Cleaned Update ESM but as expected it contains no valid game data. I have looked at Gophers video on the subject here: but he doesnt talk about it at all?
swmas Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Pretty convoluted, try this, Make a folder in ModOrganizer "mods" folder called Cleaned Masters or something and copy Update, Dawnguard, Heartfires, Dragonborn esms in it then clean them and load those instead of vanilla ones.
Headerman Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Yeah i ended up just doing that. They seem to get registered in MO ok so won't worry about "creating a mod" for them
Headerman Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 It's been nearly 2 days now and i am not even halfway done with the STEP mod guide. So many mods... haven't even gotten anywhere near CBBE yet :/

Headerman Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 Haha Well i have just fionished installing the step mods. Now i need to implement the step settings as well as ENB, and then CBBE based mods and then finally; sexlab mods
Headerman Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Well all the STEP core mods are installed, along with CBBE, HDT and bodyslide apps. I downloaded only 4k textures and installed them, i must say it looks fucking amazing. Easily the best Skyrim install yet. I am up to 243 mods. Need to do: - ENB - My own mod preferences installations - Sexlab mod installs
