Crate123 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 So I bought a new graphics card a few months back (gtx 1070) and while it works perfectly fine in ALL other games, skyrim cant handle it and makes my computer reboot, almost as if the card overheated (but it doesnt, I have checked the monitors). Sometimes it happens as soon as I load up skyrim, other times it happens after several hours. While the game is running I can definately feel that Im using a new card, it runs the game so much better than my old one but the random rebooting means the game is basically unplayable. Any help or suggestions ?
Nazzzgul666 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Do you have ENBoost? Wrong settings from the old card maybe? That's my best guess, second is any other programm that could have old settings, including Skyrim itself. Did you reinstall it after new card?
Crate123 Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 I reinstalled the game (and all mods) after getting the new card, I dont use ENB boost (and it also doesnt matter whether I use ENB or not). I have no idea what other secondary program could be affecting skyrim but no other game at all.
Uncle64 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Do you have W10 installed in your system? If so go to Steam forum and check for one nice guide there, how you setup Skyrim for W10. I did swap my old Radeon to one Gtx 1050 and no issues at all. Did you remove the old drivers that you had for your old card before you removed it?Skyrim is sensitive. It should be treated like one old lady.
