CTD On save game question

So my game has been plagued by CTD on occasion by either quick saving, or manual saving. Not 100% but roughly once every 10-15 minutes. I know my game is flooded with scripts and I know that stresses the game out big time. I'm trying to limit what could cause crashes but unsure what are the most common problems.

So what does cause a CTD on saving? Is it to many scripts running and it can't properly save? Do Save CTD happen to alot of people, or to specific mods you can think of. I'd like to get a bit of help in narrowing it all down, but mostly looking for info from other people who have/had these problems and if they fixed it somehow.

I can post logs, load order, etc later if need be. Thanks

- Enable Papyrus logging options and post your logs.

- Enable Crash Fixes logging and post your logs for checks in common Exception Addresses

And if you haven't already...

1. Use Crash Fixes and its corresponding plugin

2. Use ENBoost, and enable priority mode and data sync mode http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73618/?

3. Use Save Game Script Cleaner to clean orphan mods and check for active scripts.

I've encountered Save CTD myself a long time ago.

IMO, it's hard to diagnose and reproduce because you'd install your mods differently, have different things overwriting each other. And sometimes, it's just random with skyrim and SKSE, just like the FootIk CTDs.

Far as I know, the CTD on save is usually because the game engine cannot stop all the running scripts in time to save.

I was plagued by the issue and Crash fixes reduced it by quite a lot. I eventually cured the problem, but totally by coincidence. My install still has bugs, but once the game is loaded and running it's usually ironclad.

Well, until it;s not and I've kind of worked out when it is going to freak out on me. So save, quit, and go for a walk. Getting it going again is a bigger issue for me, but I have a few few safe saves that will always load no matter what.

A simple experiment you could do is walk into a new area (causing the game to autosave), and give up control of your character. Wait until the game goes into idle (free camera spinning around PC) and then try the save. If it still crashes, it's not the running scripts.

Hmmmm, so far Crash fixes is working. Haven't crashed on saves since I re-added it. Thing is, I tried it before and it still crashed. Granted this play thru I also removed 5 mods (all of Devious Devices and its add-ons). Only really crashed once, after an hour plus of game play, was heading from Riverwood to Whiterun and the moment I got to the farm where the giant attacks it crashed. Reloaded and played for another 20 minutes with no problems.

This sounds like some mod might be creating this issue, but no way of knowing of course. In addition to Crash Fixes, I've found THIS MOD  helps as well, so you may want to try it out.  I haven't CTD'ed since adding that and Crash Fixes. Well, a few times it just dropped out, but I just reloaded game and continued on.

hmmmm, might look into that one, I cannot load a game from continue, unless its in a small cell like indoors, and even then it won't load the continue save. I pretty much have to load my starting save which is in the abandoned prison with the Alternate start/Live another life mod. But yeah, so far it rarely crashes now, which is exactly what I want because it seemed like quick save or autosaves had a 60% chance of crashing.
