But just as I started to get into it, I found a hotel filled with robots with one's dome bashed out and I'm a detective. Then my character's questioning voice / demeanor changed into an over-acted, corn-ball, William Shatner thing and it started to turn me off. Maybe it's supposed to be funny? While talking to these robots, one of them is in love with another one. Oh, OK. Robot love. At that point, I quit as I felt the whole scenario was just plain stupid. Haven't played since. So, my question is: Despite my initial "first impression", should I just move on because things get better? Or is Far Harbor just more of this same type of silly nonsense because if it is, I'll probably just write this one off. I ask because while I like FO4, I kinda don't like it as well. When I first played the game, I instantly predicted my character's son was going to be the bad guy (depending on one's point-of-view). Ah, geesh. It certainly isn't a Skyrim-type game in many respects and maybe it's not supposed to be, although it's called an RPG. To me, it's just an FPS for the most part. Then having to spend hours micro-managing stupid settlers that can't even fend for themselves or pick up knee-high trash around them gets on my nerves and takes away from the game (IMO). But I guess that IS the game. Being stuck with only this follower or that follower is annoying. WAY too many "locked" this's or that's. And we all know the dialog system just plain sucks. But I'm not trying to slam FO4 as there is some great things about it too. I find the level of detail is tremendous and the Super Mutants can say some pretty funny shit... Thoughts?
Zor2k13 Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 The game itself is just so boring it goes on and on telling you that you must give a dam about a bunch of npcs as if they were sooooo important instead of getting the fuck out of the way and get to the good fps parts already. That quest is debated as a ripoff of a fo3? mod you just have to find the wikia page for it by name of the quest to get through it. What I do is give that fancy hat in the movie star's room to valentine to replace his crappy worn the hell out hat. I have him wearing scavenged ncr armor from the mercenary mod and thanks to awkcr mod you can get valentine to wear anything else besides his default crap. Worst thing about far harbor is you have to haul nick around for most of it until you get the main quest done then drop him off at diamond city then go back and do whatever you wanted to do. Far harbor is fun but you need some fixes for the marine armor from nexus like corrected textures and missing feet fixed and neck covered blah blah but nobody has put a dam headlamp on the helmet yet. This game is just so dam boring it really is, after all the gun mods and big mods whatever it is still just really boring with the same disturbing start and terrible writing. Just a few days from now we finally get beyond skyrim bruma addon so I am just putting off gaming til I get my hands on that.

It's a fun quest inbetween instead of more stuff to shoot. But hey if you don't like it I am not judging. The main campaign and the Island itself were, in my opinion, some really cool shit with some nice moral choices and interesting NPC's. I just really dug the atmosphere. But to be fair I am, it seems, in the minority as I enjoyed F4 as a whole lot more than Fallout 3. So basically: If you enjoyed the rest of the game you will most certainly like what else Far Harbor has to offer except that one quest.If you didn't like Fallout 4 much, this will not be groundbreakingly more fun for you.

I don't understand why I hadn't heard about this! WOW! Thanks so much for the heads up on this! What was I talking about earlier? I tend to agree with your overall assessment.
