CBBE Curvy: Is it just me or does it look... small?

Just getting into FO4. Still testing out mod setups, but one of the first things I noticed coming from Skyrim was that the default CBBE Curvy shape seemed kind of underwhelming. Like the breasts didn't match the hips.

After taking a closer look at the mesh in Bodyslide's preview window, I still feel that way. It feels like the equivalent Skryim at under 30 weight? Is it just me? What I see even in modest screenshots seem bigger than the default body.

Does everyone use presets? Or just ramp up one of the morphs?

If you have RaceMenu you can make your own preset, all you need to install is bodyslide, during the installation you can select plugins for racemenu that allow you to change the body in many ways

Since you mention RaceMenu are you referring to morphs rather than presets?

I was looking for a thread to show off my CBBE player and friend.

Yes I do what you said in the second question, ramp up one of the morphs.

I never really understood body-slide.

Looksmenu never really works for me, I have to position the camera perfectly first using "TFC"

and then my player fidgets.

But THEN I downloaded "devious devices" and I think I'm in love with the outfits.

I'm using cbbe-"slim" but everything seems to fit correctly.

The photo I am including shows the "before" outfit and the "after" (new favorite) outfit.

-------

There's this medical term people use to describe that little curve in a woman's back, and how her thighs seem to lean forward attractively,

"lordosis", I think it is called.

CBBE has no adjustment for spine curvature so I need to apologize for Player's slumped-over stance.

If she were sticking her chest out like she was giving a speech, and had just a tad more "lordosis" she'd be close to perfect.

To be honest - if you're just starting with FO4, i highly recommend either using the vanilla body or Wonder Body.

All other body replacers don't have dismemberment working, which... well it's just terrible. Like playing the censored german version of FO3.

CBBE doesn't have dismemberment working?

Well... I'm not missing that much, am I? Not many shooters have that feature anyway.

On a separate but related topic, since CBBE Curvy looked off I made my own preset. However it looks different in-game than in bodyslide. In BS, it has a natural looking shape but in-game it looks exaggerated (the shape is different and larger).

Also posted it in tech support but I guess no one visits that subforum.

Are there any known issues about that? Like the engine doing funny stuff? Or morphs being applied that we can't control?

Perhaps you're not missing the dismemberment when you started playing with CBBE already installed.

There are some glitches though coming with the lack of it - like when you loot the clothes off a butchered NPC, then their limbs grow back together and the blood is gone. IIRC the dismemberment does actually still happen on outfits that have no CBBE bodyparts showing, same with males if you use Enhanced Vanilla Bodies. Completely immersion-breaking, not just for me.

Besides that, Fallout 4's CBBE is just not working and looking very good. There have been practically zero improvements and fixes since the first release 1.5 years ago; the vertex weighting is terrible, certain body proportions are off so it always has this "Barbie Doll" look, none of the textures are convincing, the Bodyslide outfits look blocky, and so on.

The only other body replacer that has everything working - dismemberment, textures, 3D genitals etc. - unfortunately has the same shape like the vanilla body, so there is just no sex appeal. Which would be the main reason to use a body replacer.

This thread wasn't about which body to use or dismemberment. CBBE can't have dismemberment in FO4 due to a limitation in the engine with too many triangles, there's nothing that can be done about it by anyone, only workarounds like splitting the body mesh up into upper and lower section, which is horrible.

It's also horribly rude to say that there's been zero improvements since release. You can't just redo a body mod from scratch after release or it would break compatibility with all outfits and BodySlide projects. And even so, there have been improvements since release.

@Topic: If you don't think the curvy shape of CBBE is big enough, then you can always make your own preset in BodySlide. We never intended to make it as big by default as the Skyrim CBBE.

Well i gave some thorough constructive feedback here half a year ago, which BTW were the same concerns back from the CBBE release back in 2015.

Looking at the changelog, the only additions were the slider fixes from the "boobfixed" mod. The rest still looks exactly the same as it did after the initial release.

In response you said this:

This is also not supposed to mean that we simply try to make CBBE a mainstream product like a bad TV show, we're still trying to make it as good as possible, but there's always compromises. The weight thing between the thighs and the slight seams aren't game killers for most people, so there's our compromise.

But that's what it is now, isn't it?

It is >the< mainstream mod, and due to lack of competition there are no improvements - although even Oldrim's CBBE is clearly better working and looking.

And i don't quite get the argument that you couldn't re-do it from scratch (where you actually admit that it should go back to the drawing table), since the Skyrim CBBE mod also was overhauled 3 times and simply wasn't very convincing before the Bodyslide 2 / CBBE-HDT update.

Sure nobody has the right to make any kind of demands, but it's a very big disappointment when the best looking and most fun Bethesda game (Fallout 4) is such a step backwards when it comes to the core of adult content, which are the body replacers.

The default Besthesda idle animations are very masculine, too masculine for my taste as they do have what you described, "slumped-over-stance".

In BodySlide, I use Chest Depth and Back Arch together, it works well for that specific adjustment.

Check out some of the available idle animations around the web. The idle stance animations make a big different in the curvature, much more natural. When I changed those Bodyslide and the CBBE body really stand out well and look natural.

That's actually what I ended up doing. I took the Specimen Two body preset and made heavy modifications to it. And then made an outfit preset off the body preset. Modifications were mainly around reducing the size since in-game things looked ridiculously large (didn't look like the screenshots on the mod page, but maybe those were with specific outfits and angles that worked).

Since you're here, do you have any ideas about what I mentioned in the earlier post?

I noticed some outfits have poor sliders (like Eli's Armour Compendium) so I tested with vanilla clothes. Still looks odd though, especially on certain clothes like military fatigues.

Not sure why it looks okay in Bodyslide but so much more exaggerated in-game. I don't think I have any of the Body morphs on in LooksMenu either. Does this happen for everyone?

Edit: On further testing with screenshot comparisons, I realized this is more due to the conversions being widely inconsistent between outfits.

Did a comparison of the military fatigue and it's close enough. Some differences, but maybe due to lighting.
