Interesting, I never even realised you could get pets in settlements, I keep running back and forth to the SuperMutant in Far Harbour to get dogs

And I never really cared about my settlers happiness unless it was low.

The video mentions the Wasteland Workshop dlc so it would seem that you need to build cages to capture the animals, not sure if mods that adds pets to settlements would work.
