dePog Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Out of the blue yesterday I started getting the error message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000001d)" I have played Skyrim for years without any issues, until yesterday. Since then I have completely uninstalled all mods, uninstalled Skyrim and then restored it from Backup. Still get the same error. After further investigation I have found the culprit to be the main file of ENB - d3d9.dll If I remove d3d9.dll from the Skyrim directory, then Skyrim will start. However that means I would have to play without ENB Does anybody know why Windows 10 has suddenly taken a dislike for for the d3d9.dll file ? (And how to fix it) Cheers, dePog PS. Been running Windows 10 for about a year without any issues.
Nazzzgul666 Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 I have windows 10 too and it doesn't happen for me, so probably windows isn't the point. My first suspect is any AV software, they are usually crap. Afaik the windows defender is by far the best you can get, so... just don't use anything else. If that's not the problem, second guess would be a change in video driver/settings.

Been running Windows 10 for about a year without any issues. I'm on WIndows 10 and had the same problem when trying to use the d3d9.dll file, on the original Skyrim before making the switch to SSE. I believe it's a Windows 10 issue, cause I ran the original with enb on windows 7 and 8.1 and never had this problem.
dePog Posted May 28, 2017 Author Posted May 28, 2017 Thanks for the responses. My Skyrim with ENB has been running happily on Windows 10 for almost a year. I can only presume that some auto update has caused the issue. Very frustrating.
RW311 Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 A recent windows 10 update caused graphics drivers to uninstall for several users. I experienced this problem with one of my pc's that was running a multi gpu application and started constantly crashing until I found what had happened. I have not checked lately if there is a solution I just rolled back windows update and reinstalled the correct driver files. You may want to check if this is what happened to you, it would no doubt cause problems with skyrim and enb.
