Guest flingingfeces Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Hey everyone I'm always interested in meeting people that write and play there own music. So I figured I'd start a thread so anyone here can post what they play and if they've written their own stuff and would like to share some of it. I personally love acoustic guitar and pretty much anything I write is done with one. Don't get me wrong I like the electric I just love the raw sound of an acoustic. I don't mind starting off. This is my Sound Cloud page filled with a few works in progress along with some finished material. I'll continue to upload more when I have stuff to upload lol. Enjoy. http://soundcloud.com/j0shdp/save-me Oh and my influences are bands like Alice in Chains, STP, The Eagles you know stuff like that.
Dreamer102 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I play guitar in a church band, but I play some of everything. I love playing with and collaborating with others when I can...though the opportunities have been few and far between lately. I also work on my friends and co-workers guitars and teach them what I learn. Best way to get them playing more is to expand their horizons. Here are a few links of things I put up on youtube. Playing around with my ambient side... Accompanying my First Lady on an old Gospel tune... Me playing "My Curse" by Afghan Whigs... Playing "He's Able" with the band v2...(drums a bit loud) Some acoustic stuff... Thanks for making a thread for us musicians! Edit 1: FlingingFeces, if that's you singing you should have tried out for replacing Layne Staley when AIC held auditions! Edit 2: Severian, HOLY COW! Awesome work! That song "Red" almost had ring-modulation fuzz tones in the beginning. I think I'll be downloading your album. Thanks for sharing!
Dreamer102 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I know there are more musicians than this on this board. Where's lilDevil at??
utv Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Hey- Just found this cool thread. I'll post a link to a couple songs as soon as I figure out how. I'm from the grumpy, old fart school who have never posted on you tube or facebook. I play rhythm guitar both electric and acoustic. I've written more songs than I remember, literally. (Combination of alot of songs and a bad memory. Heh.) I've performed in 3 original bands ,The Emissary, Elisha Gray and Split Orange where I was also lead singer. We played small circuits for about 15 years. Got a review once that said I sounded like a cross between Meatloaf, Alice Cooper and Bob Dylan and he didn't mean it as a compliment. I laughed my ass off personally. My influences were basiclly old school, Hendrix, Doors, Floyd, etc. These days I consider myself 'retired' which means broke and unemployed but it was fun while it lasted. My jamming presently is on Thursday nights where a bunch of us get together and just crank acoustic style. We do play out at the occasional party. Here's some lyrics to a tune I wrote in tribute to the great state of Maine where I live. It's called Vacationland. (That's what it says on our license plates.) This song is actually popular among the little circle of hicks here in the backwoods. VACATIONLAND Well, my cow died yesterday. I aint got no milk today. My wife left me anyway. So I can't roll in the hay. Don't brush my teeth. I aint never clean. Got hair on my ass and my dog is mean. My truck broke down on the way for beer. My daughter's knocked up. My son is queer. My chainsaw done run out of gas. The sheriff come and took all my grass. And I finally found my brandy queen but she's my cousin Maybelinne.

LilDevil Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I know there are more musicians than this on this board. Where's lilDevil at?? Lol, that made my day. Happy this thread exist, though I feel bad that I don't have anything at the moment to share...... I shall record me doing something.
LilDevil Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Alright, here are two tracks that I still have on my computer, got a whole lot of CD's with all sorts of stuff on them with a variety of styles and mixes. You guys are the first ever to hear them...... was very scared to share them, oh well. Here is a cover of my favorite band Iron Maiden's Wasted Years. I'm the lead guitarist, and this was with my most successful band, we were able to get some good shows, most I played in front of was 500. Next song was a very early rough draft of a song I did, an original that me and my drummer wrote, it was something simply so I can try out some new mikes I bought to record with. Hope you guys enjoy and I shall see what else I can recover, or record Also Severian, very awesome work, will have to agree that red is my favorite song out of the bunch, though that being said all of them were amazing pieces of work. Hope to see more from you.
Guest flingingfeces Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Awesome job on the Iron Maiden cover it sounds right on.
LilDevil Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Ok new link sorry again about that. http://soundcloud.com/j0shdp/sharp-shooter/s-L2dhv Sharp Shooter is awesome, has a Cage the Elephant and Shinedown feel, also has a little Cerebellion. Also thank you, I liked that cover a lot and my front man did a good job. I wish I can get them back together but life has a cruel way of doing business.
Dreamer102 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Awesome work. you sound great there FlingingFeces! That one has a grimy dark industrial feel. Love the tremolo effect in the opening. If Alice in Chains went industrial this song would be on their new album! Kickass!!! I'm still playing with the ambient stuff, I don't have the skills to play without delay OR sing lol... =]
Guest flingingfeces Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Like that guitar Dreamer. Always loved blue and black together on one. It just makes since.
Dreamer102 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Thank you! Designed it and built it myself.
Kodiak Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Track 10 from the album it's called Throw it all away. Enjoy. http://soundcloud.com/j0shdp/throw-it-all-away I do back up vocals/guitar Dude... I always liked your taste in music you use for your outfit vid, but holy shit I really like that and would not mind picking the CD up. Very cool:D
utv Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Hey- Just found this cool thread. I'll post a link to a couple songs as soon as I figure out how. I'm from the grumpy' date=' old fart school who have never posted on you tube or facebook. [/quote'] Hah! I finally fucking did it. Took me godsdamned near a year but here it is: Yeah, I know any idiot can post on YouTube, but this is my first and for the moment I feel like Peter Fucking Jackson.
Guest flingingfeces Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 lol Well done Mr. Jackson XD This is my new Sound Cloud page. It's just me and the stuff I'm working on. I'm no longer in a band so I thought this would be more realistic.
utv Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Very cool. I especially liked your acoustic work. The way you threw in the lead riffs and then jumped back into the rhythm while keeping it smooth, 'tis a talent you have.
Dreamer102 Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Agreed, my muting isn't good enough to pull that off yet. (Geez I could watch that avatar forever)
Guest flingingfeces Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Thanks so much I'm always working on new stuff so I'll try and upload more soon.
utv Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 And my second You Tube presentation. Oh, Peter Jackson weeps.
Guest flingingfeces Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Great stuff again Peter Here's a new one I finished up today
utv Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Sad, but I think we've all been there. Music is such a great release. I've got a couple "brandy queen left me but she was my cousin anyway" type tunes. Lmfao. Never actually happened to me but I live in Hicksville, Maine and I have to confess I have seen it. But I digress or digest...or something. Anyway, great work. You rock.
