splott Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I keep looking and looking but I haven't found anything that'll tell me what I am missing and what I have too many of (EG: Creature framework is included with MNC). suggestions?
valcon767 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 2 tools that can tell you what masters are missing would be TES5Edit (what masters are missing) Wyrebash (when making a bashed patch it will give a missing master error for both missing and misplaced master files) as for what files you have to many of, the only way I know of is to read the OP of the individual mods (and check for more recent install guides) to see which versions of which files you should be using (example - MNC install guide will tell you which version of creature framework you should be using) a general rule of thumb (not perfect but really helpful) would be to see if there is a more recent version of a file included with a mod, and if so then you check to see which version is the one you actually need. example - several mods include Papyrus Util in them, but there is a separate version (all by itself) also available....most times the separate version will be the most recent (and most likely the one you need). p.s. LOOT (the standalone version) is a good load order sorting tool (again not perfect but really helpful).
splott Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 I tried the TES5EDIT thing, it didn't give any obvious sign of conflict, but it's not exactly the most intuitive thing I've ever seen. Wyrebash wanted me to reinstall my Skyrim game into a new DRIVE "but not THAT drive!". wtf?!

You just need to go to the Mod organizer. There when you install 2 conflicting mods, then clicking on the last one can see which files it replaces. If something is screwed up, then Loot will show what is missing or what is not combined with You just need to go to the fashion organizer. So my recommendations have already been made here but I'm still gonna toss my two cents. For files that overwrite each other Mod Organizer is fantastic. It shows you what's overwriting/being overwritten and by what. It can specifically show you which files by which mod and the data pane can show you which other mods provide those files in case there are multiple mods being overwritten. It can also tell you when master files are missing either just in the plugin list or in the error list. (Although 99% of mod pages include this information) TES5Edit is a more advanced tool that can't show you which files are being overwritten but can tell you everything else. Checking for missing dependencies is easy, just load up your load order, if something is missing a masterfile it will tell you, and if something is missing a resource it depends on from something else (but not necessarily a masterfile) it will also warn you, just in a less aggressive way. Checking for conflicts is as simple as right clicking the plugin you want to check (or highlighting multiple and then right clicking) and choosing "Apply filter to show conflict loss" and waiting a moment (or several if you've got a massive load order like mine). Granted, those are less file conflicts and more form conflicts, but still really helpful.
