STEP, MO, Sexlab & set-up; Fresh install questions

First, I'd like to say I'm no noob when it comes to mods but I sure feel like one now after being away from it.. A few MISsteps and here I am waiting for skyrim to download again (not in program files) after completely clearing out anything skyrim. Going to follow step pre-cis-ely when it comes to setting up utillities & extenders, but then you get to fixes and there are outdated mods like brawl bugs & xpms when there are modern brawl bugs & xpmse. Step also points to FO4edit when TES5edit is more current. What else is outdated?

I'm wanting this set-up to be SL focused, Which brings me to what to ignore & what to keep following STEP? Should I follow STEP?  STEP patches or individual mod patches? Any other sexlab based set-up related tips?

Crash fixes instead of memory patch - Do you ignore or heed the RED warning messages given at start up when some are suggested by step I believe?

Cleaning ESM's - The written instructions (STEP) and Gamerpoets video (STEP) vary slightly. Written saying to copy ESM before cleaning, GP saying let TES5edit backup esm & include in the overwrite mod. While I'm sure both will work, there has to be advantages and disadvantages to both, no?

TLDR -

STEP + Sexlab = Good/Bad. Thanks!

STEP is good for learning how to mod, however using it along with any other mods besides the one in the STEP build produces issues. I ran into that myself. I ended up using STEP for my base build, with some minor tweaks, however the STEP patch needs to not be used and install options for mods that say STEP need to not be used. However you still need the content from the STEP patch. I looked up what the STEP patch includes (It's on the Wiki), and picked and found every piece myself and then installed them. The STEP patch is the major problem with the STEP loadout if you plan to add other mods, ESPECIALLY SexLab... I found that Sounds of Skyrim would not load, and many other bugs arose when I used the STEP patch...

Since you hopefully will use Wrye Bash (latest beta for sure), then all the patches will be merged into the Bashed Patch... pretty much no need for a STEP patch.

Also, update the Brawl Bugs Patch to the Modern Brawl Bugs patch.. the STEP list is kind of outdated.

Hope this helps.

I've been modding Skyrim for a long time, coming back from SSE because Sexlab (I still think SSE is superior for modding, but no SKSE64 ;_; ), and I don't savor the 24+ hours of downloading mods and meticulously installing them that I've done in the past when following the SR:LE guide by Neovalen on the STEP Wiki. Any thoughts/suggestions of recommended mods to run alongside Sexlab and its constituents? I want to keep the load order relatively short if possible, thinking mostly texture replacers with a few gameplay mods like Frostfall/Campfire and Ordinator.

Thanks for the input!

Another thing, should I turn mod order warnings off as per STEP's MO set-up?

Only if they annoy you and you are sure YOUR order is the correct order.

You'll want All-in-One Animated Pussy for sure. That's really the only staple mod I'll recommend. Be aware 4.0 is slated for release within the next month if everything goes smoothly. Other than that it's personal preference and there really isn't other stuff I can recommend that I can guarantee you'd want... TBH if you don't plan to spend 24+ hours downloading and installing mods for Skyrim... you shouldn't be modding Skyrim.. that's just gonna be the way it is. lol. Modding Skyrim isn't supposed to be quick and easy. There are so many conflicts that can happen from mod to mod, and it's different for everyone's install.
