Mookeylama Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 i know most will probably say 1151 quad core is faster for gaming, but was wondering since my heavily modded game has tons of SKSE plugins, HDT, scripted mods ect, would it take advantage of the extra cores and threading that a 2011 (6950x maybe) setup would provide? thanks
Zebot Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Unfortunely no... You only get performance boost if you have a higher clock since Skyrim's engine was not made for multithreading. You can check that by youself when playing (it will be only using one core).
Rayblue Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 On one hand, Oldrim is pretty much limited to single core. Unless you have mods taking advantage of SKSE and you needed to clear out the bottleneck, it would seem to be pointless to use Kaby Lake for a game released in 2011. But other games you have and released in the last two years would of course take full advantage of new hardware and drivers.
