dread74 Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 Hi there, I've got a bit of a 'thang' for shiny latex and just want to be able to change a few outfits here there and everywhere to be latex instead. I have downloaded the latex suits (with zero suit) and Female outfit replacer with vanilla shoes from the nexus and they are both great mods. What I was hoping was - with very limited experience in 3d modding but good general technical understanding - was to be able to play with the Female outfit replacer mod encorporating the latex suits from other mod in place of items like long johns, raider harness etc... and/or simply changing the outfit appearance to be shiny latex. I've read up as much as I can find about this and it seems I need Nifskope - got - but I still need a little hand holding from you experienced modders pretty please with cherry on top. Q. What exactly do I change in nifskope to make something have that latex shine ? Q. If I take a latexsuit mesh/texture etc.. and rename to say whatever the correct names are for a green dress and put in their place in the first mod - will that work ? (I tend to doubt it will) Other options/ideas/guidance very welcome. Thank you
dread74 Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 Oh... that simple... Thank you Edit: Ok further to this: I have downloaded this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10692/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D10692&pUp=1 which has nice wetsuits in it. I have put in a seperate directory and edited the nif files as you say then loaded into NexModMan along with the main file that is required. There is no shine other that how it 'was' supposed to look. There is a line I cannon see in your img called 'Wet Material' with the entry: template/OutfitTemplate_Wet.bgsm [66] Is this effecting it ? All I can find re google is that is something to do with rain effect. Are there any other settings or flags I need to set ? Thank you.
MadMansGun Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 the 2 settings that i know of are "Glossiness" and "Specular Strength" try setting Glossiness to 200, and Specular Strength to 5 or more (try 20) but if the "Specular color" is set to a darker color you may need to change it eg: try R=0.85 G=0.85 B=1.00 note: my knowledge is based on skyrim modding, i don't have FO4.
dread74 Posted April 24, 2017 Author Posted April 24, 2017 I really appreciate yout help but alas still no effect. Thank you anyway. *bangs head against wall..... There are also a load of 'wetness xxxxxx' settings towards the bottom and regardless of what I set them to the appearance does not change either. The only thing that had any effect was when I deleted the texture set and the whole body became invisible when the wetsuit was equipped (so i know I am editing the right file, loading mod correctly etc....) My only 'guess' at this stage is it must be something to do with the Wet Material entry my nif file seems to have and yours does not. Maybe that is negating all the normal settings in some way !?!?!?!??!????? .... :/ Can anyone else shed any light ?
DigitalP Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Just open up the texture file. The black and white one not the coloured one. Adjust brightness and contrast..........Jobs done.
dread74 Posted April 27, 2017 Author Posted April 27, 2017 FYI - I have been told that: Unlike Skyrim meshes, with Fallout 4 objects the Normal Map Texture (xxxxx_n.dds) Alpha Channel is no longer used for gloss effects. Which I think means that i dont want to be using nifskope in fallout to achieve the look I am after.. Rgds
BringtheNoise Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 You probably want to download the Material Editor (reads material files like bgsm, bgem, etc) from Ousnius http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3635/? Then download (just for looking at) the DD package for FO4. Open up the material files for the latex pieces and open up the material files for the non latex versions. You should be able to figure out the gloss, alpha, etc needed to change something over to a latex/wet look from there.
Ptalamneus Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 You must copy/paste full BSLightingShaders block and change textures path. So, you may need to add *_m.dds and alpha-channel for *_n.dds textures. I am sorry for my English.
