Loverslab daily skyrim news

introduction

bethesda introduce new system for the latest dlc that set to pc very soon the actual size of the dlc was rather small it was somewhere 167mb so we expect it's a small increment update for the last game that was in the beta i found someone is posting topics on random forums really 167mb that can't be that small , even " oblivion dlc" is like 600-700mb , surprising isn't it.

Dawn guard quote

" The sun might set, but the dawn guard is ready for war with the dark side"

So how typical is vampire-lycan story is in skyrim like any other fantasy horror lore's well it's skyrim and nordern landscape you get the idea how epic is that sound oh no it's not a regular vampire bullshit story , dawn-guard has that unique van hellsing feel like in the game you can hunt vampires and liberate the living , just like in medieval era where vampires is actually a threat.

so far todd howard says " i'm not sure when is the release for the pc, if all goes well we will announce the release date" todd howard we all know and like has a sneaky attitude he took us by storm.

[video=youtube]

Skyrim Dawnguard isn't about Vampires anymore like the old age of oblivion it's about werewolf, Todd didn't focused on vampires he wants the lycans have spotlight too

indeed , sounds like a overhaul for skyrim , Todd Howard stated dawn-guard is the last released they will make, for skyrim there isn't any dlc will fit the stories on skyrim because literally there's hundreds of quest available on regular skyrim i think what they did is they reamped the combat and more storyline to it so if you can do math the regular and this

I'm on my second play through of Dawnguard on my 360. I'll be picking it up for the PC too, when it's released. I'm enjoying it.

But where ever you got your information, a lot of it's not quite right. :P

It's not 167MB, it's 582MB. The biggest Oblivion dlc was Shivering Isles at just under 1GB. Knights of the Nine was about 150MB. And all the rest were under 10MB. But that's comparing apples and oranges. A better comparison would be Fallout 3 and New Vegas. They averaged 250 - 450MB per DLC.

The days of Shivering Isles size DLCs have been gone since.... well... Shivering Isles. :P

Other than the werewolf skill tree, there is no real involvement of werewolves in the DLC. Not a typical vampire - lycan story, unless you RP it that way. :P

The shout Soul Tear is available to all players, not just vampires.

Crossbows aren't fully available to both factions.

Mounted horse combat has been in since the 1.6 PC update.

Some other stuff...

The main DLC quest line is fairly decent in length. There are also several side quests for your chosen faction.

Two fairly okay sized new areas. Several new dungeons.

Of course new armors, weapons and spells.

New creatures.

Some people may consider the following information spoilers. Soooo just to be safe......

POSSIBLE SPOILERS ALERT

There are also reports of random werewolf encounters, but I've yet to see any.

To get the best crossbows and bolts, you must side with the Dawnguard.

There are two other shouts, besides Soul Tear, as well.

Both the Vampire Lord and Werewolf skill trees are separate from the main skill tree. Can only be accessed while in that form. They also level up differently.

A few new quests that don't involve the story at all.

New higher level dragons.

Craftable dragon weapons. Craftable arrows!

Several new followers, including one that will be a favorite among many. ;)

Two new player/faction houses. You only get the use of one, depending on the faction you choose.

Of course there are the usual Beth bugs, a couple annoying. But nothing game breaking.

I'm sure there will be a few conflicts with some mods that are out there with the changes this DLC brings.

All in all, I think it's a fairly decent DLC. Nothing earth shattering, but I've gotten my moneys worth.

Any news on when that PC release date is? I was thinking that they would have announced the release date by now if it was just a 30 day exclusive rights agreement.

not sure due to bugs on pc they are delayed for few months i think maybe in august

its odd though, the developers use the pc to make them game, import it for use on the xbox 360, then reverse engineer it for the pc and ps3? While yes they would have to worry about different graphics cards and set ups for pcs, then why the long wait on the ps3? Perhaps Microsoft purchased a longer than 30 exclusive right contract with them?

The bugs that have been found on the xbox havent been game breaking atleast so the original product isnt horrible.

to tell you the truth skyrim isn't perfect yet, even though everything are graphicly amazing but still the realtime scripts make the game break in the case dlc version for the pc

now xbox is easy , because once you reverse the engineering on the patch itself the data is static

now on the pc however has dynamic scripts so u know they expecting bugs for pc so it's a good idea to delay it for a while let console players have they moment first, because u know why pc have more advantage on consoles so imo i rather wait for the release.

All the hubbub on the Beth forum is great and all, but the important thing to remember is that they're talking about how great it is on the 360.

If there's one thing I've learned in 15 years of gaming (PC AND Console), it's that there's a huge difference when it comes down to the actual content. Most PC gamers will blow through the DLC at lightspeed (many saying how much it sucks), simply to familiarize themselves with the content. Then they'll start looking for the mods that add even more. And as domgar pointed out. the dynamically scripted nature of the PC version is what really makes the difference noticeable.

As fun as playing a game on a console can be, it just can't compare to playing the same game on a PC. Especially in such a highly modifiable series as The Elder Scrolls. Long after the console gamers shelf the game until the next DLC is released, PC gamers will happily keep modding and playing it.

I can't speak for other modders, but I have a metric shit-ton of stuff planned and mapped out to work on once the CK gets updated. And I haven't seen even half of what the DLC has to offer yet.

Its not really right to say Vampire-Lycan story - its Vampire-Werewolf story, "Lycan" just means wolves in Latin and doesn't nessarily have anything to do with WEREwolves. Plus in fantasy lore Lycanthrope can mean several kinds of werebeasts, ranging from wolves to bears to panthers. Not trying to get on anyone's case, we all know what you are trying to say when you say Lycan, but Werewolf is the more acturate term. lol

Heh, if only todd howard somehow added the werebear (or a weredragon).. then we can use the lycanthropes term.
