Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 So yeah, Chicago is pissed it seems. Basically, folks collected old+broken guns to give to the city in a buyback program, and used the proceeds to fund a kids shooting camp. For those not in America: Certain major cities in the US have major gang issues (Chicago and Detroit are less safe than Afganastan basically). Rather than actually deal with the gang problem (primarially because the politicians don't want to be called racist, etc.) the city has a 'buyback' program. Basically you bring in any firearm and get a preset ammount of cash for it. So this group collected old and broken guns, and made over $6K for a kids shooting camp (gun saftey, marksmanship etc) as well as funding guns for each of the kids. For those of you in countries without guns, consider this.
gregathit Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Now that IS classy! I am quite proud of the group that did this. Gun buy backs are nonsense and don't do shit for crime anyway. Bravo for sticking it to the man! And the best part is, it went towards a good cause!
thesapien Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 RoboCop would take too long to arrive at the scene. Don't cops typically show up AFTER the fact, just how it is. So I would like the Flash to be my standby.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 RoboCop drives off highways so that he gets there in a timely fashion to ensure the safety of the public and a prompt arrest/killing of the suspect(s) at the scene.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Robocop can't go until someone calls the cops, by then usually it's too late.
thesapien Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Even better if he could see the future or travel back in time! Remember Doug Adams' story about elevators that knew you were going to the hit button before you did and so were there waiting for you! If you hit button and no elevator was there it meant time to run because something bad was probably about to happen and the elevator was probably afraid to show up.
gregathit Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Ok ... time cops?!?!?! Now we have just gone silly....
thesapien Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Oh, yeah, that's been done, too, time cops. Forgot. Okay, back to being serwious! That is the best of use of the gun buy back program. I'll bet though that lots of people who tended to have guns and believed in owning guns were also using the program as a way of getting cash on guns they no longer wanted or were damaged and then going somewhere else to buy new guns. Just guessing it was common, too. I mean, who is going to have old guns lying around and not be someone who would tend to want to own guns?
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 That, and the gangbangers who the city WANTED to sell their guns wouldn't touch ANY police ran event with a 10ft pole.
