Venarge Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 A friend of mine has a big problem. He wanted to play skyrim but it did nothing, so he decidet to reinstall it. After that, he wanted to play. It worked but it shows up like the screen you see here. Even after reinstalling it again and deleting it, the game still looks like this! Can someone help?
Angry Ghost Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 did you save the mods and just paste them in? Is that the vanilla game looking like that? Sometimes in Fallout 3 and NV when you ran to many mods the texture memory would get overloaded. Its not really a problem with your computer, its the engine, it can only pull and load so many resources before it really gives up.
creeposaurus Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Please list all mods your friend is using. Whether or not he's using ENB or FXAA injector, and if he has the High Res DLC installed
Venarge Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 thank you so much for helping me. as soon as i see him, i will give you the list of mods =)
creeposaurus Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 No problem. From what I'm guessing, he probably has the high res textures and some other texture replacer mod like Sexy Whiterun installed so it's all wonky, but better to just know if he has other mods to be sure
Ark of Truth Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 The high texture pack is most likely not the issue but sometimes it can be. The texture memory is your graphics card not the game engine as that does all the graphics rendering. It is most likely one of these issue or all of them. 1. Graphics card is not powerful enough to run the game with or without the high res packs. 2. Invaild file paths linked to meshes, all non found meshes will display like the screenshot. 3. Conflict with a mods or multiple mods. 4. Processor is not powerful enough to handing rendering. If your friend is still unable to play please provide his system specs so we can see if it's a hardware issue.
Venarge Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 so i finally got a look at his mods. here they are. he made screenshots of them. he is using the dark & red unreal enb as far as i know. I hope that helps you guys.
gregathit Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Another thing you can try is lowering your settings. It may be that you just don't have a powerful enough rig to use the HD stuff and all those mods.
Venarge Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 I thought about that as well, but it worked all fine. All the HD textures and stuff were already there and worked together. I got no idea what he installed to destroy it ill try out to lower the settings and deactivate the HD textures too.
Venarge Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 ok I deleted the ENB and switched the graphic mods like hd textures off. After a reinstall, the problem still exists =S any further ideas =(
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 My own (and only my own) approach would be: Remove all saves from the Steam cloud by opening the game, selecting "Load", and then hitting "X" and "Enter" until the list was empty (this will mean that when it's reinstalled, you'll need to start a new game to play & create new characters etc. - all the old ones will be GONE). Then, uninstall the game using the Skyrim game CD, make sure that the whole contents of the Skyrim/Data folder actually ARE uninstalled/deleted (especially textures & meshes) dump ALL mods including deleting the contents of NMM's cache (I can't recall the file path for this), opening NMM once you've uninstalled the game and manually removing ALL mods which remain in the list (if any) using the red "X", and THEN reinstalling. After that, try adding mods back in using NMM. It seems a long list - you may want to think "...do I actually *USE* this?" before re-applying every last one of them. It's good to clear the decks once in a while. I realise that this approach might be overkill, but if you're experiencing problems which are persisting beyond reinstall it might be worth a look. USE AT OWN RISK.
Mana Yakushima Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Delete the Skyrim folder (minus saves) and let the game make a new one?
