tsuki no mori Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Does this version for skyrim automatically re-order my mods as soon as you start it up? The one for Oblivion did that and I HATED it. In the last version of Bash that I tried to use' date=' this could be turned off. I don't want to take a chance with this one for skyrim if it does that since NMM doesn't save load order (yet). It doesn't? My standard workflow when I install a new mod via NMM (and I install everything via NMM even if I have to edit the ZIP/RAR/7Z file to do so) is to quit NMM, run BOSS, update my userlist.txt file for any unrecognized mods, run BOSS again and launch SKSE. NMM has the correct load order the next time I run it.
jyrttiah Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 ^Yup' date=' should I? And should I get any other helpful program/tools for installing/managing mods? Ah, I just remembered what else I was gonna ask.I reinstalled Skyrim today and getting back into the(lurking/leeching) scene so can you guys suggest essential mods I should get? Thanks! lololololololololol. [/quote'] My 2 cents: Personally haven't tried NMM, because i'm used to installing mods manually anyway. You can survive without NMM fo sho, because there's an alternative called 'TesModManager - OblivionModManager for Skyrim and Oblivion' which i've been using for a while now, here's a link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5010 TES ModManager's bad side compared to NMM is that you'll actually usually (unless mod maker has packed it into OMOD -ready format) have to manually place the files in the right folders, so if you prefer to make mod installastions easy/quick, it might not be the right program for you. From what i can gather having surfed Nexus sites, mods seem to support NMM quite well, but there are a few cases where you'll have to resort to manual installation. For example, forementioned TES ModManager needs to be installed manually.
nobody117 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Is it possible to integrate the mods here in loverslab, to NMM? Or are there any plans for it?

[/quote'] Most mods, if the installation instructions are something like "just drop this onto your Skyrim directory (or Skyrim/Data directory) and choose to overwrite files if asked" should just work with NMM. NMM understands mod archives with these simple formats. It's when there are options that work needs to be done but if the format of the file is: ESP file(s) Meshes folder Textures folder or Data folder -- ESP file(s) -- Meshes folder -- Texture folder you should be okay.

In other words, manually install and the mod files do have .ESP files. Thanks for the info, but I was thinking more if the mods downloaded here, can actually be downloaded with the NMM itself, so you can choose to install the downloaded mod or not.
eroeronomi Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 I think it's time I answered my own question. I have never used NMM before, I just installed it half an hour ago and tested it out for the lolz and new experience. I didn't like it, plus mods I used NMM to install all failed miserably. Verdict: No, I should not use NMM and I WILL NOT use NMM. Should you use NMM? From my humble opinion, no. But everyone's different, give it a try, if you don't like it, then don't use it.
