Need to kill time

Recently I've had an unreal amount of free time and I want to get into modding, ive decided to start with FO/NV, where do I even start?

 

It would be really great if anyone could link me to guides and software to help and also give me any tips you've picked up long the way.

all the stuff that you need you can find on google, GECK is easy to find, if you just starting with modding that is what you need, what mods are you trying to work with, weapons, armors, cmpanions?
