Alpha 6 Nifs Not Importing into Blender 2.49b

OK I know I am a bit behind my time on the modding programs but Yes I am still using Blender 2.49b soo here is my problem:

I updated my nifskope to 2.0.0 Pre-Alpha 6.... now I was able to delete the BSLightingShaderProperties, NiAlphaProperty, & change the user versions from 12 to 11 & 83 to 34, & still be able to import the nifs into Blender. But my hard drive crashed & I had to re-build my HDD, But this time when I delete those values from a nif it 1 will not import into Blender, & 2 when I re-open the nif with the deleted values I see these errors:

Importing_issue1.pngImporting_issue2.png

& the Nif is no longer usable, My question is how can I fix this so I can import nifs into Blender?

You have to use the new Blender with its alpha plugin, or use 3ds Max, or use Outfit Studio (OBJ transfer).

It was never really supported to simply change the version numbers of a NIF in NifSkope, it just happened to apparently work in the older versions by coincidence.

@par6six6

I am not sure what is wrong because it does this to every nif like I tried using an older version of nifskope.... Nope did same thing, & I downloaded Alpha 6 several times & still same outcome.

So I am going to try learning 3ds Max for a change besides this is probably a push to go that direction & it might be a good move. but it takes along time for me to catch on to 3ds max vs Blender was a piece of cake for me.

Something is seriously wrong with the format of that nif, possibly corrupted. Get the original and start again.

No, it simply looks like that because the version number was changed and NifSkope can't handle the conversion.

Yes, I prefer (the new) Blender myself as well. But I don't do much modelling, so all I need is OBJ export of Blender and my Outfit Studio, which can copy bone weights pretty well now and does a far better job at a clean NIF file for skinned meshes.

 Would you mind telling me or a short tutorial on how you been able too copy the bone weights in Blender, been trying several projects past few weeks and bone weights has been an ongoing issue. Blender 2.78a / BodySlide 3.8.

lol, yes, of course you're right, I completely missed the part where the OP reopened a changed mesh, something one shouldn't do.

@Zquad1, what exactly is happening when you try to import into Blender 2.49? (I use 2.49 for everything and have never had a problem).

well it only happens when I change the user version1 from 12 to 11 & user version 2 from 83 to 34.

some how it can't handle the changes & the nif literally can't be used any longer for it's intended us. It really messes up the nitrishape data umong other things as well.

I did find a work around though But unfotunatly I can't use 2.0.0 Pre-Alpha 6. I had to down grade nifskope & it works perfectly for Nifskope 1.1.3

unless there is something I am doing wrong I'll go back to working with Pre-Alpha 6 But as of right now Blender is importing 1.1.3 just fine & I can open the nif without getting errors.
