Idea: Kill Dragons comes at a cost and you have to compensate (whoring)

Short version:

Adding an incentive to work as a whore (at your convenience).

Below is explained how that might work, by first describing the negative effect of absorbing dragon souls.

---  ---  ---  ---  ---  ---  ---

The negative effect:

When killing dragons and absorb dragon souls, you slowly get 'corrupted'. Just like dragons, you start to think that you are better than the rest because you absorb some of their personality as well as their power.

As that dragon-personality increases, and you act more and more jerk/bully, people will like you less and less. At some point, traders might even refuse to do business with you. (not sure if other negative effects should be added as well).

[edit] A penalty in learning (because high-and -mighty thinks she knows everything already) might be another nice side effect. [/edit]

The solution:

You must try to get down to earth again by whoring in taverns and building a reputation as someone who people can have sex with for money, throughout SKyrim. Acting high and mighty is difficult when people know they can just offer you some money to have sex with you.

The dragon-personality point system (possible implementation):

When working on your reputation as a whore, I envision two effects. When you increase your reputation, the dragon-personality drops in absolute value, as well as a certain percentage. In the beginning, mostly the absolute value will drop, but later on increasing your reputation as a sex-worker will decrease the effect of the dragon-personality in percentage.

The percentage is so at some point you will become 'immune' to the personalities that still resides in dragon-souls. The reason for the drop in absolute value (especially in the beginning) is so you can run around Skyrim without negative effects, while still slaying dragons.

The reputation point system (possible implementation):

In each tavern you can earn up to 10 points of reputation (5 customers). And you can earn at most 6 points on an evening.

When you have gathered 10 points in a tavern, you gain the reputation as the taverns-whore and gain an additional 5 points.

When you have a tavern-reputation in a hold, you gain the reputation as the whore-of-the-hold and gain an additional 5 points.

Thus after 9 holds, you can have 180 reputation points (if the taverns are spread throughout Skyrim). But to become immune, you require 240 reputation points. This means 4 more taverns with 15 points in each, or more individual points if you do not go for the tavern-whore reputation. Know that there are about 20 taverns in Skyrim.

Whoring (possible implementation):

Go to the barkeeper and ask if you are can earn some money (and negotiate a fee to be paid to the barkeeper). Next, do some dancing in the middle of the bar. Afterwards, the barkeeper informs you about clients and how much they are willing to pay. Accept the customers you feel comfortable with and have some sex.

The reputation effects (possible implementation):

Know that when you earn the reputation of a tavern-whore, there is a chance that someone might offer you money to you to have sex when you are in a tavern (only in the evening and it might as well not happen). Decline 3 customers in a row, and you lose a reputation point in that tavern (as well as the tavern-whore bonus and perhaps the whore-of-the-hold bonus as well). This means that you might suffer from the dragon-personality again. And you cannot restore you reputation in that tavern the same evening. You will of course be shown how many customers you have declined in that tavern so far.

When your reputation increases to 270 points (or more), in every tavern throughout Skyrim, people might offer you some money, even if you do not have a reputation in that tavern. That also means that in those taverns you can easily decline their offer as you have no reputation to loose. But the main benefit, you will only loose a reputation in a tavern when you decline 7 customers in a row in a tavern (instead of 3). Thus when your reputation is high enough, maintaining that reputation will become easier.

[edit]

More lore-friendly:

To make the mod more lore-friendly, other humbling tasks could be added, like mining, farming and sweeping floors. Because it makes sense that there is more than one way to stay humble (enough). But to still have a large incentive to get a reputation as whore, the other tasks could be made slightly less effective. Additional, they could be set to never provide a percentage in protection against the dragon-personaity (only a small absolute value). Meaning that if the player wish to get rid of the negative side-effects once and for all, getting a reputation as a whore will be the only option.

[/edit]

Other mods:

In general, mods that makes it more worthwhile to gather dragon souls. For instance a better shout-mods (or more types of shouts). Or something like "Ish Soul to Perks", together with mods that increase the amount of perks you can invest in.

I would love this. Makes perfect sense that there would be some feedback from absorbing souls; just look at the Azura's Star missions. (Even though Mayln Varen is essentially the "owning soul" of the star, as if the star were his body, he can still be defeated or at least knocked around by you, a random invading soul. Hence, why can't dragon souls at least do a little bit of that to you, knocking around in your head/body?) I think it also explains why Miraak did and does everything he does. Honestly, this might be the most immersive mod I've ever seen. It literally solves holes in the lore.

I think the solution to the issue of dragon-soul-interference is great too. It's definitely hard to turn up your nose at somebody with their cock buried down your throat! Great idea!

... Shame I'm more of a script kiddie than a modder or I might get to work on this myself.

This seems more than a little contrived.

Firstly, because gathering wood, ore or crops for the residents of Skyrim is also a humbling experience, so why would that not count?

I mean, you have to be a pretty humble person to gather some wood for some random guy's fire for 5 gold, when you could spend that same amount of time to make several hundred gold raiding a tomb or killing a wizard.

Sure is tough to be high and mighty when you're also helping out the poor (by giving them gold) and the farmers (gathering their crops), wouldn't you say?

Including it will also allow players who use chastity belts to use the mod.

Secondly, because a character could become the leader of any given guild (or even all of them) before triggering dragons, and if a girl remains humble when she has that much power and influence and experience and knowledge, I don't think killing a dragon would fundamentally change her personality.

Perhaps if you expanded it so it would feel less... "Video-gamey" then it would be a decent idea for a mod.

Oh, and, you should probably either include or suggest a reason for towns to be useful; it's extremely simple to find a dungeon with most\all the facilities (or even a player-home mod) and stick to that. Gold and merchants are basically useless once you reach a certain point and I just don't see the teeth in the mod.

You could include potential punishments such as: being thrown out of towns, a jail sentence (along with Prison Overhaul) and slavery (Simple Slavery), depending on the level of punishment (but always remember to include an option to resist).

So far I like the idea of having a drawback from absorbing dragon souls, yet I feel the drawback should be something else thou.

I'd love to see it that every time you absorb a soul, your minimum Arousal (Working with Sexlab Aroused in that case) will increase a few points, while also implenting an additional system to have more drawbacks from high arousal (something like slower Magicka Regen, decreased damage etc).

Furthermore implent a quest to lower your minimum Arousal fro a few points (I dunno, maybe surrendering yourself to a dragon and let him mate with you or something.)

It is indeed a little bit forced as there are other methods to 'remain humble', but this was the best idea I could think of that:

  • Forces the dragonborn to get herself a reputation as whore
  • Does something devious with dragon-souls (as in, another type of event where something bad happens)

As mentioned, my main intent was to let the dragonborn get herself a reputation as whore. I posted an alternative to crime punishment. That idea allows multiple actions to pay for your crime, although it will favor the more adelt kind of punishment tasks. That idea does complies to your feedback perfectly.

Other side-effect are of course possible, but trading was the first one I could think of. But now that I think about it, a penalty in learning (because high-and -mighty thinks she knows everything already) might be another nice side effect.

Don't understand the 'video-gamey' remark. Although I must add that I always shorten the duration of sex scenes.

As my character finds hersalf trapped in a chastity belt rather often, I personally would prefer the current downside of having a high arousal and not add anything more. Also, the amount of trouble you get yourself into with a high arousal depends a lot on the players settings in different mods.

But I guess it is also a bit of a preference, if you like more or less stats (like health, stamina, magicka, bounty, aursal and reputation) to take into consideration.

Something 'Video-gamey' is something that feels forced or out of place, put there for the sole sake of a gameplay obligation regardless of how well it fits within the over-all narrative.

Your narrative is that the dragonborn becomes effectively a narcissist, and that's fine. Having the main and "easy" or "encouraged" path be to turn her into a whore is fine, but if that's the only possible outcome then it's just a little bit too contrived for my liking.

I'm not saying that you have to include other ways, or that you even should include other ways; it's your mod, you do you.

I'm saying that providing options to players will give them an actual choice to make, rather than force their hand down one path and one path alone.

I, personally, would imagine that it shouldn't be particularly difficult, taxing or long to add a hook to the dialogues for turning in wood, ore or produce that will grant humility points (or whatever you want to call them), and given that it might be worth considering (especially with the number of players using Devious Devices mods).

Hell, you could create three separate paths, one for those who choose not to perform any humbling actions and kill dragons, one for those who choose to perform "decent" humbling actions and the last for those who choose to whore their characters out.

NPCs could have different ways to address the character; perhaps if you help them they like you, and they'll be nice to you, while if you choose to whore out your character they will cat-call her and have a variety of choice words for her as she passes by and if you choose to not perform any humbling actions then they might be afraid or hateful.

But that's just my two cents, and in the end it's your decision as the author,

Becoming a narcissist (and feeling better than the mundane humans) as a side-effects of absorbing dragon-souls, fits the lore well. Changing that to make (only) whoring feel more natural will probably feel far fetched. Thus adding other humbling tasks indeed feels logical (like mining, farming, and sweeping floors). Yet I still try to create a strong incentive for the dragonborn to create a reputation as whore.

Solution; the other humbling tasks could be made decent, yet less effective than whoring when trying to battle the negative effects. And in addition, they could be set to never remove a percentage from the total negative effect. Meaning that these tasks won't allow the dragonborn to become immune at some point.

This way, the mod is more lore friendly, while there still is a strong incentive for the dragonborn to get a reputation as whore (one of my two original intents). And with your input, I think we came to a relative lore-friendly idea for a mod, that is most certainly not suited for nexusmods.

Lore question : why killing dragons will make the dragonborn horny enough for whoring ?

In place, lot of women will try to meet the new skyrim hero...
