Skye_Puppington Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Welp after going through a lot of difficulties in getting FNISXXL to work properly, I finally started playing, everything went well, and when I was done playing I saved and closed the game. Today, I try to load the same save, and it crashes. So I reran Bodyslide and FNISXXL to see if it was something with one of those, and nothing happened. I made a new game after the fact, saved it, closed out, then tried to reload and it crashed. No matter what save I load it crashes to desktop, even new saves. I've looked through the logs and loadorder, checked some stuff in MO, but I can't find anything wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. lurkalot Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Check FNIS conststance you may have duplicate files with animation . Fnisxxx already has most animations built in .
fizzybutt Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 FNIS doesn't have built in animations. But if you can start a new game, setup and play and it might be a string issue (newly discovered this year, since NSAP and SLAL can boost strings way over the save limit) Download Skyrim Tools (I know it says for SSE, but it's got support for legacy) use the resaver to load up your save. If you've got over 65,353 strings it's borked for good. I think it'll even tell you the save is dead. Nothing you can do for it but lower your string count somehow. Floating around is a thread or three that has information on this issue that people started figuring out, I use a combination of the restringer (Which is very, very touchy. DO NOT MESS WITH IT UNLESS YOU ARE SERIOUSLY COMFORTABLE WITH MODDING) **Somehow I submitted the damn post, .... grr** Also use Crash Fixes. It's got a failsafe built in if you go over those strings. It won't however rescue any save that has already gone over that. Anyway. There's floating around Marks sexlab string patch for 1.62. No I won't give it to you because it doesn't work for everybody. Works for me, and doesn't work for my boyfriend who's computer sits right next to mine. I dunno. That helps me reduce strings due to sexlab animations. Honestly the only thing you can do is reduce strings, I'm very picky about animations in my game, going for quality rather than quantity. I sorta went off on a tangent there, but that might be a thing. ***stupid me linked the wrong thing without looking** -fixed link
myuhinny Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Try this load the game and when you get to the start new game\load game press the ~ key to bring up the console and then type in coc qasmoke. This will warp you to the games testing hall from there bring up the load game screen and try to load a game. If it crashes then you will know it's something else causing it if it loads up fine then you will know that you have a lot of scripts active and that your computer probably can't handle them. Because when you load a game up every script in your save file tries to load up at the same time which can cause problems especially on older computers.

I checked the ReStringer on the save, and it did not give me the warning, and the string count is under what it should be. I'm not sure what's causing the crash then.... Any ideas?

I loaded from that Testing Room into a different save, in Solstheim, and it worked just fine. So I just need to lower the script count? My computer runs the game itself really well, it's not an old computer.
fizzybutt Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I couldn't actually tell you. Gotta go through the reasoning on that one. *what's happening when you crash, *what's going on in the logs just before you crash, List goes on. Now you can try the Myuhinny suggestion. Try loading the save from QAsmoke. My boyfriend has to do that, even with that 'continue game no crash' mod. He says it doesn't always load it correctly though, overlays will not load with it sometimes. (matter of time and aroused widget are the most noticeable) If you can't load the save from qasmoke still, then you gotta do the unfun stuff. Start checking mods one by one until you find the one causing the problem. Try this load the game and when you get to the start new game\load game press the ~ key to bring up the console and then type in coc qasmoke. Bethesda's system is really terrible with loading games that are -heavily- modded. People with huge saves have to do that very thing after a while. It's all about what you can live with. I crash every... 5-7 game loads on a save. I just load it back up and go again. Usually it'll load that very next time.

I can live with loading from qasmoke as long as I can have an actual savegame, I suppose it's better than nothing, thanks for the help
myuhinny Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Some mods are script heavy loading from qasmoke is a common practice for many. Simply because if you have many mods that increase load like HD textures ENB and then the mods with the scripts all of those are active when the game is trying to start up that save file. I do it all the time for my game the only problem I ever have doing it that way is that sometimes the loading page will bug I can use the ~ key to bring up the console screen even though that shouldn't be allowed there and the screen never moves forward and using the COC qasmoke again takes you back to the testinghall but you can't click on anything but the load file which will get stuck in the same spot so shut down and restart of the game has to be done.
