Skyrim Personal Database Questions Advice

So I've been cleaning up my computer and working on my personal mods database. I have a few questions for those who have more experience with database management.

1. How do you compile your personal database folder structure? (GOAL: Looking for comparisons and better ways of doing things.)

2. How do you deal with multiple files that may go to 1 mod? (Example: Ashara Elven Armor + Multiple Retex's)

3. How do you deal with files that seam unidentifiable but may be important and belonging to other mods such as fixes and updates. How do you find out what these mods are and who the parent files are.?

4. What are some tips and tricks you may offer someone who usually lets nmm splatter its own folder for storage but wants to change to a personal database?

Thanks for your time and responses ahead of time. I may be back in a day or so.

I do the following to keep track of the mods I find interesting:

1) Use Mod Organizer, way better then NMM as it doesn't mess with Skyrim's data folder. This alone could be enough for you.

2) I keep a copy of all mods i find interesting on an external hard disk even if I haven't installed them (you never know when they vanish).

3) I've made an application to handle the metadata of the mods (requirements, special installation instructions, url to download page, etc). You could also do this by a good organized folder structure on an external hard disk, with a readme for each mod and so on.

Main thing imo is to get rid of NMM.

I am using mod organizer but I'm in the process of switching all my mods are in the nexus directory still except for the ones I'm using currently sorry I wasn't more specific.
