It more or less works. I haven't played it for long (you know how modding is... setup is 99% of everything and then you ignore the game after you get it stable). I don't think there are any major issues with my game. But if I try to install Mias Lair, Wheels of Lull, or Forgotten City, then save the game, I get ctd on load trying to load that specific file (I use jaxonz mcm kicker to make sure the mcm menu loads and I figure that also finishes the installation). I can't even open the file in savetool to clean it - savetool just crashes. I have no idea what's going on. this isn't a ctd issue like I've experienced before, and I built a modded skyrim with more or less this modlist (on an older computer) before without issue. I've already cleaned my masters if that changes anything. PatchusMaximus.esp is not displayed in the list, but it's there - I just have it deactivated at the moment. Papyrus.2 contains the logs from my last "stable"? save, installing Mias Lair, and then making a new save. Papyrus.0 contains an attempt to load the new save. I'm very grateful for any help you can give! Relevant system specs: i7 6700k 4.0 ghz cpu asus rog strix gtx 1080 2x8 gb ddr4-2400 Papyrus.0.log Papyrus.2.log
Rebel Marauder Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Your issue is exactly this - Your save that your trying to load is corrupt from loading too many string instances (over 65000+ is the limit when it crashes and corrupts game saves) Find a save that loads in savetool and then install and follow the instructions provided by meh123 in his Crash fixes mod and you should be safe to carry on. To elaborate further on this if you need more information When you start using many scripted mods the scripts all try and fire up on load and when the string count (scripted mods contain these strings, and if it is to be believed, mods with huge MCM menu's also have high string count) reaches over 65000 this will corrupt a regular save on papyrus system, this is where crash fixes comes into place, effectively making SKSE.ini inavlid if used right, and the instructions on the crash fixes page tells you how to use SKSE plugins and crash fixes together. If you need any further help feel free to ask, or since I'm not around every day throw me a pm
SkyBarbie Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 This is a common problem with players who overload the papyrus engine and Skyrim resources. Too many scripted mods. Players think that because their game works fine when starting a new game that it will perform well late game. It won't in some cases. Once your save game gets over 15 - 17 MB bad things start to happen, especially trying to load save games. In most cases you aren't limited by your system specs but by Skyrim resources as in your case. I would remove Wet and Cold, 3DNPC.esp, Devious Devices, and the Creature Framework and then start a new game. You will have nothing but issues going forward with your current load order. It is also critical to not mess with your load order once you start a new game. I know it is super tempting to do so but it often results in long term issues. You shouldn't reorder the mods in your load order once you start a new game. Occasionally, I'll add a light mod to my load order and place it at the very end of my load order (last mod in the list) so the other mods aren't reordered but I try to avoid this as much as possible. Your save games have data that is tied to nearly every mod in your load order. Adding or removing mods mid game is a sure recipe for disaster.
D_ManXX2 Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Was wondering if skyrim SE also suffers from this like normal skyrim ?? Can skyrim SE use more then 65000 instances or only 65000 ??
yatol Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Once your save game gets over 15 - 17 MB bad things start to happen, especially trying to load save games. bullshit those saves are fine
Nefim Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 For what it is worth, there is a patch you can apply to Sexlab to cut down on the Strings it uses.... It is in my Sig.
SkyBarbie Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 @ yatol - "always be kind" - there is no need to treat others harshly. Just because a few people are able to get it to work doesn't mean it will work for everyone. I've supported several mods on the Nexus for years (under a different name than the one I use here) and have seen endless issues result with large save games. I congratulate you that you are able to get it work but most players can't, even experienced ones. My advice applies to the majority, not the exception to the rule as in your case. Just like some smokers live over 100 years old, they are the exception to the rule, not the majority. Many players have no trouble for the first 40 - 60 hours of gameplay. The real test is if they are able to complete a full playthrough of the game (60+ hours). Most of my playthroughs (I've done over 20 now with 2000+ hours logged) are long and last 100 hours or more. Most overly modded and overly scripted load orders will begin to crumble around the 40 - 60 hour mark. I've seen if over and over again. I consider myself to be a Skyrim optimization guru and long playthroughs require a well thought out and optimized load order that isn't overly aggressive. I complete most of my 100 hour playthroughs with a save game size of approximately 18 MB. I've seen, over and over again, what works long term and what doesn't. Nearly any load order will work great for the first 20 or so hours. The real test is if you can actually finish a full playthrough with it (60+ hours). The biggest mistake that most new players make is over modding their game. They have the "I want it all" mentality and recklessly install tons of resource heavy mods into their game and then wonder why they have to constantly start over and can never finish a full playthrough. I reviewed player's load orders for several mods and gave them advice. When they followed my advice their game worked great; when they thought they knew better or were better informed than me they crashed and burned. Like I said, if you can get it to work, congratulations. However, I don't recommend it for most players. Been there, done that too many times. Cheers!
yatol Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Just because a few people are able to get it to work doesn't mean it will work for everyone. maybe that mean the ones that got it to work know what the real problem is if script x start loading script y that load script x, your save won't last, type save bloating in google, there's that if script x have variables how to avoid script x mess? you can't, nobody know there will be some scripts x when he install a mod i check the log size when i quit the game, if it's huge -> search stack dump in it -> one of those is a fail script to get rid of -> and delete of all save made after that dump (trying to fix the save? bad idea)

I agree that players should look at their log file and if it is abnormally large then something is wrong and needs to be looked at. I examine my log files and look for issues. I've become quite good at it. When I give advice I'm catering to the 99% not the 1% who are optimization experts and mod gurus. The 1% doesn't need my help or advice. So when I give out advice and someone such as you pops in and says "bullshit", it sends the 99% the wrong message. They think "he installed a zillion mods and tons of resource heavy mods and got it to work so I can too". They then crash and burn and wonder why they constantly CTD or have unloadable and/or corrupted save games mid way through their Skyrim playthrough. They get in a constant state of frustration. Most players do not have the skills necessary to configure a heavy load order with lots of scripted mods and have it work well.
Morferous Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I know this has been going on for a while now, but I will still creep in. - UFO has fallen badly out of date. It can and often will cause problems. I would pick either Immersive Amazing Follower Tweaks or Extensible Follower Framework instead. I do not recommend old AFT: it seems to have some issues of it's own, though several players are still using it without notable issues. - We can see your load order, but how about your MO left panel? Are resource priorities sorted from that as well? - Unrelated to your problem: I noticed that you are missing a Bashed Patch, but you do have mods editing leveled lists. You would get more out of your mods by making that patch.
