Converting Meshes.

Hello all.

Not sure if this is allowed or not but I was hoping to convert some custom static meshes from a mod for Fallout 4 and using them in Skyrim. As they're not vanilla assets I figure it's not breaking any rules, but after messing with the mesh in NifSkope and opening it up in Skyrim Creation Kit you just get the big red exlaimation mark.

Would any of you lovely people be able to point me to a method of conversion please?

It is only illegal if you plan to upload the files to places like the nexus. You can port whatever you want for your own game.

I have ported stuff from oblivion and fallout 4 by first loading the file into nifskope and then exporting each part in .OBJ format then loading them into outfit studio scale the item to fit or to whatever size you need it then export it. Set up the texture path for each piece. You might have to do other things as well for other things.

Thanks for getting back to me. Would Outfit Studio work for a static mesh?

It would get it into the skyrim nif version but you would have to do other things in the nif to make static. There are probably other ways to do it but this is the one that I know how to do.

@Vally001

No it will not work with sims outfit studio is a skyrim/fallout 4 tool I believe that there was a version being tested for fallout 3/NV.

Unless you are talking about porting stuff from sims to skyrim then it might work depending on what file type they are.

Wouldn't happen to know any good tutorials on the subject, or perhaps be prepared to walk it through step by step? Probably a lot to ask, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Hi again. The Gopher video above is just a walkthrough for installing Static Mesh Improvement, which of course I already use. I've started making my way through some of the others but haven't quite found what I'm looking for.

I will watch them all of course, they are certainly useful; but I just wanted to bump this just to say if anyone has any tutorials that are more specific then please add them.

Thanks again.
