katt34 Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I'm sorry if this is the wrong folder but I need help. Recently both Skyrim and New Vegas started CTDing on any save. Manual, autosave, quicksave. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled New Vegas and even on completely vanilla it happens. In the save folders for both games, whenever I crash a new save file is created, but it's a .tmp and 0kb. I've tried changing the permissions on the My Games folder, no change. I've tried unchecking the read only box, but it doesn't stay unchecked. I've tried moving the documents folder, making a simlink for My Games, and several other solutions I could google. Anyone have any thoughts?
allsunday Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Have you verified the integrity of gaming cache via the Steam interface? It normally solves weird problems like this.
Andy14 Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Run the games as Admin - sometimes it helps.
katt34 Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 I tried verifying, no change. I tried admin. Skyrim gets into an infinite loop where the launcher comes up, click play, the whole "run this program as an admin" popup happens, then the launcher pops up again. New Vegas did that too until I used FNV4GB. After that I got in as admin, but still couldn't save. I found a solution though. Used windows powershell to unrestrict the documents folder and now they work. ' thanks for the advice!
