Looking for mod suggestions for new playthrough

Hi everyone.

First off, thanks for reading this, and also a big "Long Wall of Text Ahead" warning.

I, like probably many of the people here, have lately spent most of my Skyrim time modding instead of actually playing the game (and I mean it, it's been more than a year since the last time I progressed any further than Bleak Falls Barrow in the MQ). My last work was focused on helping in the development of some of the mods here, most notably Yiffy Age of Skyrim. Now the main mod is finished (though there are still additions to come), and I think it's about time I actually play the game and get to enjoy the fruits of my (and others) work.

So, I've decided to start a new main playthrough, and for real this time. The thing is, I haven't actually kept up with mod releases and development, and the huge amount of mods offered here have me unable to decide which ones to add to my modlist for said playthrough. Adding or removing mods mid-game in Skyrim is a recipe for disaster, so I'd want my modlist to be locked from the start barring any small aditions, but as I said, I have no idea on what mods to pick. That's why I wanted to ask the community for suggestions on what mods to add. At the very least, narrowing down the options will make it easier to choose.

As I said, I intend this to be a main playthrough that lasts for a while, and I want to do a complete run of the Main Quest at least, plus probably some/most of the sidequests from the vanilla game. I want to include SL/adult mods in my list as well, but with certain parameters (more on that below). Also I am obviously going to use Yiffy Age, though it doesn't necessarily affect what mods could be suggested, just wanted to make it clear.

So, without further ado, let's get to my requests/ideas about this

  • I want the playthrough to be mostly vanilla based, so no complete overhauls like Requiem or similar. I already use EnaiSiaon's mods for vanilla combat/leveling/gameplay (Ordinator, Wildcat and Sacrosanct), so I think I have that aspect covered. Other similar enhancement mods would be good, though, so suggestions are welcome.
  • As far as body replacers go, I'm limited to UNP-compatible ones due to YA, and I use standard UNP at the moment. The vanilla armor replacer I use is the default one by Exeter; I wouldn't mind spicing things up a little with something more skimpy, but so far I've only tried Remodeled Armor and it does not make it for me. If you know of any other UNP or UNP-compatible vanilla gear replacer (skimpy or not), I would like to know. UUNP compatibility would be great as well. Also I use SOS for males, but I have no problem there; though again, suggestions are welcome.

Now, let's get to the main focus of my request: SL mods. I don't know how to approach this, so I'll just dump my thoughts on it and hope is not that much of a mess :P :

  • I want SL content to be a somewhat integral part of the game, or at least something that it's always in the background. Meaning, I'm not going to install SL and all the associated requirements only to have like one "Press hotkey for sex" mod with no further implications/consequences. I also don't mind it getting a little in the way of the vanilla game, as long as it doesn't completely stall it and/or remove it entirely (SD+ and Maria Eden come to mind as such mods, so they wouldn't fit).
  • I'd like to keep script load to a reasonable level if possible. Feel free to suggest script-heavy mods, but if something is like the "Papyrus killer" or something like that, I may not be inclined to use it.
  • I don't want any kind of extreme rape stuff. Some SL situations being not exactly consensual may be alright, but I don't want my character (or most NPCs for that matter) to be brutally gangbanged by bandits or Draugr or whatever whenever I'm defeated, I just want Death Alternative to kick in and that's it. Also guro/necro stuff is a big no for me.
  • No bondage/DD if possible, or at least not as a main focus. Mainly because I don't like it that much, but also because a lot of devices won't look right on NPCs due to all the races now having beast heads thanks to YA. ZaZ is fine, though, at least as a requirement.
  • I wouldn't mind if the NPCs of Skyrim were a bit more open about naughty action. Massive orgies in tows is to much, but maybe if some NPC is aroused enough, they could find a partner (or even the player) around them to sate their needs. I don't know if I explain myself: seeing some NPCs going at it or having NPCs approaching my character to ask for it from time to time is fine, triggering 5+ char orgies every 2 minutes is not. Also immersive/plot-integrated ways to start SL scenes would be nice; so far I only have SLEN, but I would like to know about more.
  • I would like there to be some kind of functionality that would encourage me to keep my character's needs sated. SL Aroused's built-in desire spell with the skill gain buff/debuff is quite good at that, but if something else along those lines does exist )or there is any mechanic you consider fits that purpose), I would like to know.
  • Bestiality is acceptable*, though with some details. Mainly, the creatures i'm interested in are Wolves (and by extension Werewolves), Sabrecats and Dragons. The former three because I think fit with the feline/canine races form YA (and I like them), the latter just 'cause I like them. About  the way to implement them, though, I'm open to suggestions. I use One with Nature to make the corresponding animal (wolf or cat) an ally, and the other is left as friendly, so no combat-related ones (though my point about rape leaves those out anyway). Maybe a way would be having the critters hump my char when they are aroused (and my character consenting/not opposing much to it) or my char giving in and willingly doing it with them if their arousal goes too high. That kind of stuff, and also maybe for NPCs. As a side note I have been looking at Untamed for this, though I'm not sure how it would affect the gameplay, so if someone uses the mod and has some info about it, i'd like to know.

(*-> Pretty high on my "Things I though I would never say" list. Oh, the internet  :P )

That's pretty much it. I understand it's a lot of specific requests, and that some/most of them may not be possible with the mods available at this moment, but any suggestions or ideas you can provide will be most certainly appreciated.

Thanks for reading, and (hopefully) for helping me with it. Also kudos for reading all the way to the end  .

For non-SL mods I'd recommend mods like Realistic Needs & Diseases (Makes eating, drinking and sleeping a thing that you should do or your character will suffer) and Frostfall along with it's requirement Campfire (Skyrim is a cold region, being warm and dry are two things any citizen should be aware of) as they add a lot of immersion and make you plan for your adventures. And while you are at it, Go to Bed will make your character look as if they are actually sleeping!

I was going to suggest SLEN but since you already know about it then I really don't know what to advice you to look into SL-wise.

Thanks to both of you for your comments! They are very helpful.

To be honest, I have not considered that kind of "immersive "mods up to this point because I have the feeling they would be more of a hindrance than an improvement, turning the game into an "Eat & Sleep & Drink & Repeat or Die" simulator. Nevertheless, I'll take a look at them. Maybe I'm wrong and that's just the thing I need to spice up the game a little, now that the plot itself is no longer new or interesting. BTW, isn't RND no longer supported and hasn't it been superseded by iNeed? At least that is the last thing I remember, though I may be wrong.

Shame you have no SL suggestions, but hey, you've done enough already. Someone else may help me with that aspect.

UNP Spice Gear

UNP Minidress Collection

May have some suitable UNP re-placers for the vanilla armour/clothing.

Amorous Adventures - Ties vanilla side quests into sexlab nicely.

I knew about Minidresses already, and it doesn't do it 100% either, though I like it better than the stuff from Remodeled Armor. I had forgotten about Spice Gear, so that may be the thing I was looking for. Thanks for reminding me about it.

I may have to do some tweaking to Amorous Adventures to get it to play nice with Yiffy Age, but still, sounds like a good addition. Good and deep quests are always welcome, specially when they involve immersive sexy times  :P .

I'd second Frostfall/Campfire. Aside from being one of the cleanest and best developed scripted mods of this complexity I have come across, the great thing about it is that it doesn't just change an existing game mechanic, it adds an entirely new one. The same goes for a 'needs' mod, for which you have a little more variety to choose from. Personally I use iNeed which is probably a bit more 'casual' than Realistic Needs & Diseases (i.e. it doesn't kill you quite that often :D ). For me these mods added a lot of replayability to Skyrim, which is quite impressive since I had already sunk over 4000 hours in the game before I started using them.

Untamed is a great mod too, well made, easy to use and with very little quirks/bugs that I have encountered, none of them serious. The only disadvantage I can think of for untamed is that you cannot turn it off in MCM, and due to the genders of creatures and lack of available male on creature anims it really isn't that useful for males (unless you are willing to always take the female position). So I can definitely recommend it, but if you do not intend to use it on your playthrough, it's best to remove it from your load order entirely. Untamed is really a 'beastess' mod though, targeted at frequent or even exclusive bestiality - for some more casual beast action I'd recommend Bestial Essence which adds some nice quests to the game.

Another SL mod I like is Soulgem Oven III (from the same maker as Untamed), for adding some consequences to all that SL action. At the default settings I think the increased availability of soulgems can be rather unbalancing, but there are plenty of MCM options available to reduce the chance and increase the duration of pregnancy, reduce number of soulgems and milk produced etc, making it non-disruptive for the vanilla game. Version 3 got rid of the cloak effect that in v2 tended to cause stack dumps in extremely busy areas and overall this latest version seems to behave very well in terms of performance. And if like me you don't really like the pregnant look, you can turn off the big bellies in the MCM too, which since I typically set the max amount of soulgems to 1 or 2 seems to make more sense in my plays, 1 soul gem isn't going to round you out much, if any.

Thanks for your suggestions! They will most certainly help me set all this up.

Yeah, I think if I do install any needs mod, I'll go with iNeed. I've given RND a quick try, and it doesn't convince me. Plus its death triggers are incompatible with Death Alternative, so my char ends up with 0 health but somehow still alive  :s . Frostfall is all fine, though. It's a keeper, at least for this playthrough.

Yeah, I'm seriously considering Untamed. As I state in the OP, I'm only interested in wolves, cats and dragons, and the first two are covered in the mod (dragons are generally just too buggy for any kind of mod period, though I still have hope in what people could come up with for use with MadMansGun's anims and/or Burning Skies). I've already mentioned the creature as female/bottom anims to darkconsole, though the issues come mostly Skyrim/SL rather that from Untamed itself. I intend to play a female character, so that's mostly not a problem, though now that BadDog has made a female version of the Lykaios schlong, I was looking forward to seeing my she-wolf using her new "tool" on some of the feral wolfies  :P. Oh, well.

Also I had forgotten about Soulgem Oven, I'll probably use that one as well. Also deactivating/reducing the max body scales is a great idea, to be honest UNP doesn't look that good when you upscale it IMO, specially the breasts. If it had support for Bodyslide Morphs, things would be different, but the current mod will do as-is.
