CTD on loading modded save

I load the game, create a new char, and let the mods do their thing. Once they're done I save and load the new save to continue the installation but it CTD's. I've tried removing mods, going through them one by one but can't seem to find the cause. It's probably something obvious and I'm just to blind to see it. Load order was decided by LOOT and all mods installed with NMM.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Cyndra,

I don't think it is an issue with load order as your new game loads fine. I'm not sure what you mean by saving and then loading to continue installation. I've never had to do that myself with any mod.

What you can try, seeing as you've got alternate start installed, is to start a new game and press "R" to accept and name the character. Once you've got control of the character press "ESC" and load your saved game. I have to do this everytime I load a save game for some reason otherwise Skyrim crashes! :)

With Estrus Chaurus you have to reload the save for it to install.

I'll give it a shot.

No luck. It's being caused by one of the mods that is setting up when I make the save but I cannot track it down.

Didn't work. Hopefully it will help in the future though.

Are you sure all other mods have finished their installations and that MCM has finished processing their menus? Perhaps remove estrus to see if that is the culprit as it seems to be the only one that requires a reload for it to finish installing?

I'm used it before and had no problems and when I was trying each mod one at a time it didn't seem to cause any problems. It also installs fine when I tried your suggestion on quickly saving then loading that save. Everything installed but when I saved and loaded that new save to test it CTD. I left it sitting for a few mins and there were no more pop ups and nothing was running in the console so I assume everything had installed. Also this is without touching any of the mods settings in MCM.

There's no need to create a new character, but yes that happens. Keep the earliest version you have of a character, load that first, then load your latest.

I don't have one. Lost my old saves.

This is a brand new install with old and new mods. The CTD is being caused by one of the mods after it installs for the first time but I've been unable to locate it.

Load on TES5edit, it might stop loading at that specific mod. Not sure, since game loads and crash happens on install, but you never know.

Everything loaded just fine in TES5edit.

Please don't be insulted if this seems overly obvious but your not trying to play with the SE edition right?

Haha. No.

Ok I don't know if this is your issue but I'm pretty sure you you are only supposed to use one of these SOS - Smurf Average Addon.esp, SOS - VectorPlexus Muscular Addon.esp,

SOS - VectorPlexus Regular Addon.esp. Lots of mods will have multiple esp's but your only supposed to use one or two of them. This tends to make me think that you may have some incompatible mods, or even incompatible esp's from the same mod, or you may be missing some soft dependencies (I not sure if that's the correct technical term or not).

I'm afraid I'm not skilled enough to tell you how to figure out where your issues is specifically, but I can tell you the more skilled trouble shooters will want to see a Papyrus log.
