sila Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I have been struggling to fix a problem with crossbows I have had for quite some time, they would work fine in 3rd person but were invisible in first person. So after removing literally every mod and ALL other files in the data folder except for skyrim vanilla stuff, the only mod active is alternate start, now the crossbows dont work in 3rd person OR first person, and it looks like this: After adding Usleep patches, I am getting the T pose for crossbow equipped 3rd person, and first person is just invisible when I have the crossbow equipped. Any idea what is going on here? I have googled and googled this problem, I have seen screenshots showing the same thing but the only solutions I have seen posted were to update fnis and delete all behavior and animation files from it(clearly not the issue because I removed ALL non vanilla files, except for alternate start). If anyone knows how to fix this... I would be extremely thankful if you could share your expertise
downjonsie Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Is the crossbow not firing or just not playing the animation? Did you run FNIS?
sila Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Is the crossbow not firing or just not playing the animation? Did you run FNIS? It wont do anything, the game seems to think it is a shield because when I right click my character will do a bash animation. I removed fnis and all of its files, the game is currently completely 100% vanilla except for alternate start (so I dont have to go through the intro for testing) Currently reinstalling skyrim to see if that would somehow fix it
downjonsie Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Could possibly be an animation error.. Though, frankly, I have no idea how that would break unless something changed anim names in your registry. I couldn't possibly guess hahah, never had this problem. Right, well hopefully a reinstall works out for you.
darkconsole Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 are you using A Dance of Death? i had lots of crossbow problems including that for a while and it turned out i had the wrong version of that installed.
sila Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 I use Violens, but that was disabled along with every other mod (thank god for mod organizer, so easy to reset to vanilla skyrim) and it still happened At this point I am just really hoping re installing skyrim will fix it somehow.
funstuffofdoom Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I got hit by this a little while ago, and I also tried everything. Turned out, Dawnguard was corrupted -how, I've no idea. I had Steam verify the cache integrity, and it downloaded a good half a gig or so of missing files. At which point, I discovered I couldn't get ModOrganizer to point to the updated installation, so I ended up downloading the latest version of ModOrganizer and dumping the contents of the old Downloads folder into the Downloads folder of the new ModOrganizer install. Certainly not the least labor-intensive way to fix things, but it bloody worked. Take victories where you can, yeah?

Re-installing dawnguard and verifying cache were two of the first things I tried, neither worked. Reinstalling the entire game for some reason did work, so problem solved? At least I didnt have to redo my entire mod list.
