ReMeDy Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 It would be great if they were. That would mean less fuss with load orders, and having to reinstall them if I reinstall Skyrim.
Spyder Arachnid Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 They are still separate esm files if that is what you mean. They aren't just one. You still have Skyrim.esm, Dawnguard.esm, Hearthfires.esm, and Dragonborn.esm. They aren't merged together if that is what you are wondering. But yeah, if you buy the special edition, it comes with all DLCs. If you already owned Skyrim with all DLCs, then you already have the special edition in a new entry on Steam for free.
srayesmanll Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Merging them into the main skyrim would be good, EXCEPT any mod that requires any of the DLCs would have to be rewritten remove the old dlcs as masters. Also, merging the dlcs in would change a lot (if not all) of the ids within the dlcs, and any mod that references any dlc's items would have to redo the ids. Now maybe some intrepid programmer could write an XEdit script to update mods to automatically remap ids. Frankly, it was better for the modding community for Beth to NOT merge the dlcs into the main skyrim because it would allow mods to be converted almost immediately (not including SKSE-required mods, of course).
