seraph85 Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 There are a few mods I go into TES5 Edit to change some of the dialogue for. When you update the mod obviously all of that will be gone is there anyway to copy some of the changes from the old esp to the new? Or is there anyway to update a mod and not lose the modifications?
gregathit Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Copy, sure......just manually copy/paste. Keep changes and update......No. That is why most folks make a new esp with the changes they want. Then you never have to worry about something being updated.
WaxenFigure Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 A good technique to use is as gregahit suggested to create a new ESP that incorporates your changes. That way when a new version of the mod is released you can compare the records you changed to the new mod and ensure you incorporate any changes made in that new version in your patch mod. If you are one of us who have so many mods that you really can't spare the esp slots you can then copy your changes from your ESP into the new version of the mod so your changes are now part of the base mod. You will only need your patch ESP to repeat this process when a new version of a mod is released, you won't need the patch esp all the time that way.
seraph85 Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 Thanks for the advise I look into how to make a patch esp for the changes I make. Any videos or guides you would to suggest using to learn?
Krh Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Seconded. Being able to patch in spelling corrections and whatnot would warm my Grammar Nazi heart. Conventional wisdom suggests that running several copies of the same mod is a recipe for disaster, so there must be a trick to it.
