Alonwoof Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 OK, so I have over 1000 hours in Skyrim in my current steam account.I've gotten bored with it, sadly... so I took a long break from it to play other games, maybe try some of my Fallout 4 DLC, work on my own game, etc...And now that SSE is coming out, I'm reminded of how much fun it is to have a simplistic playthrough without a metric fuckton of mods and just the basics (like how the Fallout 4 scene is right now) and was thinking, since a lot of the more complicated mods may take a while to port, and the ones I *really* need will be ported right away or I can port them myself, (CBBE, SoS, and Inigo, my husbando <3) I was wondering if I should just wait for 3 days (or more) until SSE comes out, or start a new game now, with a set modlist.I'm thinking of waiting because I'm looking forward to having all those graphics features to make the game look better without having a ENB clunkily inject itself into the runtime with them proxy libraries.Thing is, how long do you think a 64-bit version of SKSE and HDT would take to port over? I'm a programmer, but I don't know shit about how either of those works, so I'm wondering if anyone with a better idea would know how much would need to change for the 64-bit enhanced build.
daicionque Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 From what little I know you would have to reformat the Skse calculations into a 64bit format to take advantage of the increased size.
Syczek111 Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 From what Gopher says about skse optimistic version it takes them weeks, realistically few months, pesimistic version a year.SKSE will be not ported, it must be rewritten from scratch

Including XOne.

Supposedly Bethesda has said all mods which are out now will work with the remastered version. In fact the Unofficial patch should (in theory) become invalid if they bothered to fixed all the bugs before releasing the new version.

Skse is clearly stated that will not work so skse dependent mods are
Ark of Truth Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Skse is clearly stated that will not work so skse dependent mods are Yeah I know that because the new version uses 64bit so SKSE has to be redone. But all the other mods which use SKSE should, according to Bethesda, still work with the remastered version.
Mastodon Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 It breaks my heart to see that people are willing to buy the same poorly stitched together, bleak piece of s... software again and again. I am deeply dissapointed in Bethesda and it keeps going downhill. I absolutely cannot convey my bitterness.I've heard of a free "upgrade", but that can't possibly be true, can it?

Every owner of the PC version of Skyrim and all DLCs gets Skyrim Special Edition for free.

If you have all the DLC, or the Legendary Edition on PC, it is indeed FREE. It's a separate install too, so it won't overwrite your existing game.
Mastodon Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Well, this is slightly less depressing. Hooray!
gregathit Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Folks, we already have a pinned thread for SSE 64bit speculations. Please use the pinned thread.
