What's the difference between GECK and the CK?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm still new to the fallout modding scene, still learning the fallout mod terminology and stuff. Fallout 4 has a CK, but I see some people are waiting for something called G.E.C.K, is it a different CK or something?

Posted

No, it's the same thing. The CK in G.E.C.K. stands for creation kit. The earlier Fallouts had an actual GECK for Garden of Eden Creation Kit, so when we got a GECK for editing fallout Bethesda called it GECK, but it's the same.

If I'm correct, the G.E.C.K. is what we thought it was going to be called (since fallout 3 and new vegas's was called GECK). It turned out to be the Creation kit in the end.

*Edit: well, close enough.

What the previous posters said, really. But if you want to go into details: Fo3 and F:NV were written in a different game engine (Gamebryo). The program to edit and created mods with was called the GECK (Garden of Eden Creation Kit)

Skyrim and Fo4 are both written with the same game engine (Creation Engine). For Skyrim the editting program is called Creation Kit. And while, if Bethesda had followed their own "logic", for Fo4 it should have been called GECK, they decided to call it Creation Kit as well.

For Skyrim and Fo4 it is indeed the (almost) exact same program.

Not really. Most knew it was going to be referred to CK because Fallout 4 is on the Creation Engine thus it uses the Creation Kit. Some of us still refer it as GECK because it sounds better, it pisses some people off when saying it, and we're just accustom to saying it. Especially those who don't play Skyrim.

And just for the record, Creation Engine is Gamebryo Engine. Bethesda are just big fat liars convincing people that they finally let that crap engine go, but far from it. So CK is the equivalent of GECK as much as the Creation Engine is the equivalent of Gamebryo Engine. Same stuff with different shit painted over it.

Please note that G.E.C.K. is specifically a Fallout term. It has nothing to do with Skyrim nor with what engine was used to make the engine. It's part of Fallout plot and lore.

I really do wish you Beth haters would get a life, do you even have a source for your information?

Wait, why am I considered a hater for calling them liars? Are you saying that Pete and Todd never lie?

the Geck for new vegas and fallout 3 are Stable and aren't complete crap.

the creation kit for Fallout 4 crashes every 5 seconds and is more complicated to run. at least in my opinion

Guys... please. This is getting out of hand, the question was answered, let's just leave it ok? Everyone is entitled to their opinion :(

Well I,m working on two huge mods ATM and it never crashes for me! You sure you haven't got things the wrong way around?

You know what is very sad, when someone bashes you in a thread for talking about a company that has nothing to do with them in particular. That is straight up fanboy behavior. If I talk about Todd, I'm talking about one of these members. If I say Fallout 4 just doesn't live up to my expectations, I'm talking about one of these members. I'm literally breaking their heart and I'm not even talking about them. Maybe live and let live?

I think people around here are capable of believing what they want. I think people around here are grown ups to figure it out for themselves. I don't think because I gave my opinion, it should have someone come in and white knight and try and stop me as if what I say is forcing people to believe that. It seems like some people here actually do believe people are bound to believe that and they have to put a stop to it.

Not my problem if the thread gets locked, because I didn't provoke another member with their opinion and label them as a hater or basher.

Well its very sad apparently BethBashing behaviour is a valid opinion, but if someones opinion is otherwise and they are just sick of droning negativity they aren't entitled to an opinion and should just shut up and like it..........

I know the game has faults but I don't regret buying it and enjoy playing and modding it, if you don't why bother hanging around being so negative. many people don't like GTA or other games, but just don't play them, they don't go to their forums and bash them.

And for the record, seeing for the record is ok. I've experienced very few crashes in FO4 CK in the hundreds of hours I've used it. Some I caused by silly things myself learning how not to do things. And the only repeatable crashes relate to rendering some non-vanilla meshes in the world render window.

I do care if the thread gets locked because I didn't post irrelevant negativity and then label others liars and peoples opinion on the negativity as "fanboy behaviour". But so what if it is, I like Fallout, you don't, get over it and move on.

Edit/Delete your posts and I will delete mine, issue solved.

Fallout 4 is the best game on the market right now overall including mods (and mods absolutely count for everything). I have 1453 in-game hours on it and hundreds of hours outside it modding.

However, I also have 350+ games on Steam plus several not part of steam, and there are many games I play for scores or hundreds of hours. It's just that Fallout 4 is currently the best in almost all ways including graphics (and I have a very good computer).

There are other must-play games like the Civilization series, the Deus Ex series, XCom, MGSV and many more. I can't even count how many good games there are, but in my eclectic and considered opinion, Fallout 4 is still the best.

Almost anything I don't like in Fallout 4 I can change. That means a lot. It's the most customizable and open world game there is.

I don't like seeing people slam Bethesda and Fallout 4, but I don't care enough to comment to them about it. I just ignore them and wonder what game they're playing.

For instance, I'm also playing Mafia 3 right now, and if you read the Steam forums you'd think it has performance issues. I think people who say that are using computers who can't handle it, because my computer plays that at 4K Ultra resolution with no issues.

**Shrugs**

I don't like the Fallout 4 creation kit. It's too complicated to use compared to FO4Edit. But I don't mind. Bethesda was nice enough to let us mod their games, and that's the best thing a gaming company can do.

You could just request a "topic lock" and best question answered. (I don't know if my English made sense that time).
