Best Fallout Character Mods?

I've moved on from modding Skyrim to Fallout 4 and I would like to know what are the best character mods out there. So far, I've seen a lot of great accessory and clothing mods on this site that I'd like to try out in Fallout 4 but just don't have any character mods.

More specifically, I'm looking for the following in high quality (e.g 2K/4K):

  • Face Textures
  • Body Textures
  • Custom Skeleton
  • Body Shape (e.g UNP/CBBE)
  • Sweat Specular Maps
  • Hair Style/Makeup Packs

Also, does Fallout 4 support some sort of enhanced character creator?

  • Face Textures [For natural and mature looking - Valkyr Female Face. For "doll" looking Oni Face + Oni cute asian face parts (face meshes)]
  • Body Textures [For natural and mature looking - Ida Body. For "doll" looking Oni Body]
  • Custom Skeleton
  • Body Shape (e.g UNP/CBBE) [ida Shape]
  • Sweat Specular Maps [Oni wet body]
  • Hair Style/Makeup Packs [MiscHairstyle (fo4-mischairstyle.tumblr.com)]

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll check those out.

Anyone else who has their own best mods, feel free to share.

Frankly I think you should try them all. It's fun.

While I use CBBE as base, Nuclear Nude for raiders, and Ida/Valkyr for normal, I've tried them all and would never dream of telling someone to only pick one without trying the others.

The most important mods are probably Outfit Studio/Bodyslide and FO4Edit. These will also let you customize your Fallout world to allow more diversity. For instance, you could even put different skin textures and presets on different NPCs. I have my Minute Men and Settlers spawn with lots of different presets and skins. This would not be possible without those mods, so they're probably the most important. And they're fun, too.

I've got a few pictures I made for comparisons of some of the skin textures and for showing what kind of modifications can be made. I did not include pictures of several of the popular skins, though, so don't consider this a complete list.

I'd also like to explain why I use Ida skin as my main texture (even though I do also use Caliente, Nuclear Nude, Vex and some others). I am legally blind, and skins which are smooth have no texture to me even with a 50" monitor and 4k resolution. I can't see any detail. They may as well be plastic. Caliente and Nuclear are probably the easiest for me to see after Ida, but the default (darker) Ida shines in the light in a way that lets me see more detail than the other skins. So my reason for picking Ida is not related to quality (even though it's excellent) but due to contrast and the fact it's blind-friendly.

These three pictures should be clicked to see them in their full size and clarity.

You can try Jane Body by Nightasy. Good alternative for CBBE, with over 370 morphs.

For Skyrim I leaned towards the more smooth/model type skin textures rather than the more realistic skins textures. Character design for me is about beauty but in a fantasy non-realistic way. I don't remember the mods I used in Skyrim so I can't really describe/compare what I'm looking for in Fallout 4.

In Skyrim my prefer skin is Fair Skin Complexion by HHaleyy. FSC very smooth and doll looking skin. If you looking something like this in FO4, i recommend to you a Oni Skin Textures or Silky Smooth Skin by dcar227.
