Since this was a sandwich (and not an open-faced sandwich), it landing "(almond) butter side down" would have been of no concern. If I had been eating it near the cat box and dropped it, though, it might have been subject to the "falling into the cat box" phenomenon. Which is closely related to the "falling into the open toilet" and "falling into the mouth of the giant shark circling the tiny boat" phenomena.
