Guest Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I'm considering adding some kind of sex mod to my current Skyrim setup. I wanted something circumstantial like a defeat situation or consensual options for followers and spouse. But I need some advice. My game is very stable as of right now with a CTD every now and them. Do you guys make a profile only for SexLab mods? Is there a SexLab guide like STEP or Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition?
malvic Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Whether or not somebody uses the profile function in MO(or other manager if that's even an option, I wouldn't know) doesn't really matter to the next. It's just an organization tool. I don't use them personally because I'll redo an install from scratch a lot of the time and only run one save usually. There is a very rudimentary guide, but what it communicates should already be obvious if you've modded skyrim much before. Sexlab has scripts and animations as its primary points of difficulty. Animations are handled by flushing FNIS as you add or remove mods which supply animations to the game. - It is also infamous for fucking up the opening scene, so using Live Another Life is the way to go. But most people know and understand FNIS. The main point is the scripts, as you add and remove those you'll completely tear your save apart. So either commit to as few scripted mods as possible(not unique to sexlab stuff as well, obviously) and do not alter them in any way, and be aware of how running large amounts of scripts can mess with your experience. Or just add and take mods as you randomly please and acknowledge the fact that your save is extremely volatile, which is what I do at this point. Beyond the modding concerns it just comes down to what you want. There is a pretty good(though I believe poorly updated) library of most sexlab mods that you can pick and choose from the categories of. Depends exactly what you want.
Nazzzgul666 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Afaik there is no s.t.e.p. for sexlab mods and it would be hard to do. Not all, but many mods here use scripts and the point of "too much" depends on hardware, config, and even personal tastes. I don't think it's possible to use all stable mods at once, no matter what you do. Another point is that many mods here have several requirements, and many of those are WIP, so things change and you can't say for sure if the next update is still fully compatible or if a new version has a new bug maybe. And not only sexlab mods matter in this topic, nexus mods can have bugs/incompatibilities either with mods from here in one or the other version. And finally, many mods here are for certain fetishes which might or might not fit your taste, it's not that much a question of stability. I've never played the cannibalism mods, for example. I don't have a profile for a non-adult game and often start new games to play different mods. Not only that this increases stability and compatibility*, imho it fits much better to be defeated/enslaved with a lvl1 or lvl20 character than with a lvl200 character, and some few mods require certain vanilla quests still unsolved. What i have is a test profile, when something doesn't work (after adding/upgrading a mod), *it's always good to know if it works with a new game to be certain if it's a mod conflict in general, or something else. So, if you want to keep your non-adult save and profile, i'd definitly recommend another profile. But of course that doesn't mean you can't use the non-adult mods you like in general. There are some mods that are incompatible (especially some mods that mess with children will make several mods here disabling themselves, for obvious reasons), some are difficult (adding many NPCs increases script stress), and of course some special mod combinations won't work together like "mod A places a house at the same point mod B places a NPC you need for a quest", but they are very few afaik and usually that's known and mentioned. In my experience, you can try mods even mentioned as not compatible and they'll work sometimes if they're from the "difficult" section, depends on hardware and settings. Or some have similar features like Defeat, Cursed loot and Shout like a virgin have a "death alternative" feature, you can use all mods at once, but you have to disable this feature in all but one of them. And last, beside the mod index there is the downloads sextion for sexlab framework and adult mods, you'll wanna check both, but for a first start i'd recommend Defeat + Simply Slavery and the mods recommended there for a defeat game play. Not all of those mods are finished or stable, many of them are quite short, but unique and i loved playing them anyways. My all time favorite "Get Stripped" isn't in this section and can be considered short, but it has 7 different endings... so if you start several new games, you can have a lot of fun with this mod. Depending on the path it can be considered defeatment, although you never really fight in this mod.
