Trainee Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Was playing Skyrim and after a bit, my screen just turns from black to white, then it crashes. I was perplexed when this happened because this is when I recently got myself a new GPU and the only changes I made was the game to medium and installed AIR ENB with some minor performance tweaks. Is there like a proper solution to this, the searches I've made seems very vague.
GenioMaestro Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Appear to by a driver related problem.... some time ago i have a problem like this with my nvidia card... Internaly, the video card has been disabled and re-enabled... look in the windows event viewer for errors... try play in windowed mode for see all the errors when append...
Trainee Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 I tried the windows event viewer and I'm not exactly sure what I am supposed to be looking for.
GenioMaestro Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 first re-install your graphics drivers.. be sure are the last version and your windows is updated... if re-install the drivers not solve the problem look in the event viewer... use the filter and select error messages... and search for "display" (the event viewer have a search function) my error say "Display driver stopped working and has recovered" but you can have other error...
Trainee Posted September 21, 2016 Author Posted September 21, 2016 My operating system is Win7. There is a chance our event viewer might be different if you're on a different OS. I dont see the search function you speak of but I did see the display error appearing as. "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Though re-installing drivers doesnt seem to work in particular.
GenioMaestro Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I have Win7, but not worry, you found the exact error in your computer and appear is the same that append to me. You have amd video card and i have nvidia.. google a bit for the solution.. is a common problem... i found this page of microsoft and have automatic solution with FIX IT.. look it and see if solve your problem.. if not.. google and try and error...
Trainee Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 Nope doesnt seem to help. The only solution that I read it is to prevent Skyrim from overloading itself or I buy myself new computer parts. So is there any solution to do this aside from buying spare parts? Can't seem to understand how overloading Skyrim would lead to this.
GenioMaestro Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 the refered microsoft fix it solve it for me months ago... but i have nvidia card... people whit this problem say that installing an OLD version of the video drivers remove the problem.. try it... the amd page about the error is big... revise it and follow the instructions... your computer must be well balanced.. a new video card can give problems if your CPU are slow or your motherboard are too old... install monitors for your machine like speed fan by almico or/and hwinfo and look temperature's, voltajes and rpm of fan's.. you can have a problem in PSU, temps or fans... and disable ENB.. it can stress your machine...
