i know this works for npcs

setessential <ID> 1 to mark as essential
setessential <ID> 0 to mark as non essential

BUT how do i do this for animals Oo

The animal in question would have to have it's own ID and name. If it does then you can bring up the console with the ~ key and type in help whatever the animals name is and hit enter use the page up and down button to scroll the list till you find it's name and look at it's ID number then use the setessential <ID> 0 to mark as non essential on them.

Or you can fire up the (CK) creation kit and find the animal and see if you can set it to non essential in the .esp and then save to overwrite the .esp.

would this cause issues for me Oo this wouldn't make animals immortal would it. i used this before when i was a werewolf to stop werewolfs and wolves from attacking me

trying to think of a mod that caused this and i cant remmber

If they all share the same ID then yes it would make them all immortal. Dynamic animals and creatures I think they alter them through factions like if a bear is in the bear faction then the mod will work on them might be done through ID but not sure or not. So if you set a bear to friendly it'll make all bears friendly except for any of them that were attacking you when to switched them to friendly.

If you uninstalled it during gameplay then yes it could as it looks like it's a mod that uses scripts turning any scripted mod off in the middle of gameplay is bad because when you turn a mod off that uses scripts those script are still active in your save file even when the mod was removed. If you turn a mod off that uses scripts you either have to start a new game or try to use a save cleaner to try to remove all the left over crap in a save file it will not always work though.

I editted my above post I just noticed I put .esp instead of save file so it should of looked like this. If you turn a mod off that uses scripts you either have to start a new game or try to use a save cleaner to try to remove all the left over crap in a save file it will not always work though.
