Ashkandii Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Couldnt think of a proper title whatever.... I've come across some sort of major issue with my SSD which is my C: drive. it 120GB, so 111GB of Free space, it says im currnetly using 106GB of it. yet when i shift-click all the folders inside the drive it only displays 70GB of files. so i went into system clean-up, like 2gb in their. cleared that. went into system protection and only using 1.91 gb so i cleared that so theres still around 38GB just completely missing from my SSD. any thoughts? Picture below on why im confused.
Amilyn Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I'd get Advanced System Care and run it, it'll detect tons of junk files if you have them, if not then maybe format the SSD?
spoonsinger Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 You really shouldn't fill up a SSD more than 80%, (90% at most). Basically the way you think it should work, (because you are sensible), and the way they have been implemented due to backward compatibility/os filesystem interoperability reasons are different. (i.e. they need an overhead to shift around/cope with deleted blocks).

Slammer64 Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Most likely you have tons of update files in the install cache, CCleaner or ASC will take care of them. You can also try Windows Disk Cleanup if you right-click and choose to run it in Admin mode.
