crankytoaster Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Hello, I have recently started getting back into skyrim modding after many frustrating attempts of modding earlier in the year. I have spent over 100 hours trying to achieve a amazing skyrim game and I have yet to play a single hour of the game. I just started what I had thought to be the first play through of the game, however when I loaded the save in dragons reach I spawned far above the castle and fell into the castle. I had to tgm to survive the fall, and when I landed in the castle I found many of the npcs dead from fall damage. Also all of the items in dragonsreach spawned above the castle and fell into random places. When I explored the castle I found 2 holes in the wall and floor which I don't know how to fix. Can anyone help me with my predicament? I can provide more screenshots/specs/load order if needed. myuhinny Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Could be something wrong with the save file. Try going to a older save and seeing if the problem is still there when you go to dragons reach. You could also run TES5EDIT and once it loads all of the .esm/.esp's. Click the skyrim .esm go to cells and find dragons reach and see what is all altering that cell.
crankytoaster Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 Currently I am using a preset save file to skip past the starting quests, I can't load any previous saves. I also tried using a save cleaner but that didn't seem to do anything. I just loaded up tesvedit but I'm new to using it, I found the dragonsreach cell and I saw some npc's having a y location of 2640, is that normal? Also, I dont know how to find mods that are editing the cell.
myuhinny Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Clicking on the line can bring up info in the right side other ones you have to click the + to get the drop down. Anything that has a colored background or colored letters has something altering if you click the line it'll show you what in the right hand box make sure it is on the view tab at the bottom.
crankytoaster Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 I got some replies from somebody that said that I should use a based patch and tes5edit patch. I don't really know how to use them and also don't know what they do. I looked in dragonsreach cell and I found that all of the files were green but 4 of them were red. The mods on the side were Unofficial skyrim legendary edition patch, and Redguard expansion which I downloaded here on lovers lab. I think that the redguard expansion might be the cause of my problems. Also, any help that you could give in regards to wyre bash and tes5edit patches would be greatly appreciated! Comrade Isbariya Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 To be honest, I never understood how - or for what to use a TESpatch.esp or a bashed_patch.esp, nor for what mods they should be created or how. I've never used any of them, and everything works fine. As for the modcleaning stuff, which often is definitely useful (unless the mod doesn't say DO NOT CLEAN - as there are mods that are considered 'dirty' for a reason) You can find several good guides on the web, and it's not hard to do. You can't do anything wrong either if you follow these guides. Also, there ARE guides on how to use/create these patches and why. (Though I never gave a damn about them, really) A very useful guide for installing and maintaining Skyrim can be found here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/74427/? It has some words about how to clean mods via TES5Edit, and even explains how to create TESpatch.esp and bashed_patch.esp, maybe you're smarter than me and can work with that one. If I remember correctly, it even has a link to a TES5Edit guide. No matter what, the guide is VERY useful, not only for the TES5Edit and Wyrebash part.

I'm fairly sure that I made it correctly but when I loaded the game the bugs still happened. Maybe I didn't make it correctly and I don't know how to check to see if they are working properly.
crankytoaster Posted July 22, 2016 Author Posted July 22, 2016 To make another edit, I just figured out that what was causing the bugs in dragonsreach was the mod redguard expansion, I just disabled it and my saves started working (I was spawned on the ground of dragonsreach) and the holes in the floor and wall dissapeared. While this is a short term solution, I still do wish to play the expansion in the future and would love to hear any further comment on how to fix the mod.
Comrade Isbariya Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 If you know the culprit you should be able to find out what the conflicts are using LOOT/TES5Edit. Does none of the programs say anything about it? Also, but I'm not sure about it, as I'm not using the Redguard mod, did you make sure that it doesn't have compatibility patches somewhere that you might need in general or for some of your mods? If nothing works and you can't find out what's causing your issue, you would most likely have to wait until more people report the bug / report it yourself and wait for a fix. ^^" I do have similar issues with a certain animation (and that animation only) though. Everytime I try to play it. (Thank God it has to be triggered manually) me and any actor involved are teleported to somewhere in the sky and fall to the entrance of the interior cell we're in or somewhere to the cell again without anything else happening. Doesn't seem to be high enough for death though. I can't find any conflicts / errors too, and since this happens wherever I start the animation it's really hard to tell what might be the cause, but well I can live without it anyway.
