As far as I know that is normal. If you load your game after getting into a new game or the qasmoke test cell you should be able to to load your game without a problem. I have followed a few guides that have said to keep a clean save to use for new mods or a fresh start, loading it and then my current save is what I do.

Try to get used to not installing mods mid-play through, especially ones that come with scripting, texture replacer and simple armour mods you can get away with mostly.

Another thing I found that helps a lot is when you play, play, meaning don't just jump in for 5mins doing little or nothing, go some places do a few things, my rule of thumb is at least 24hours must pass in-game time if I load up a main save.

I have the same problem, although my game runs super stable otherwise. No freezes, no CTDs no nothing (took me some time to achieve that :D)

It may or may not be related to some remains of old scripts in the save itself or not - it even seemed to happen on a definitely clean one after starting a new game though, too. It could also be related to where you actually save, what your game needs to load on startup and whatever.

It even seems to happen that a savegame that loaded fine just yesterday would lead to an instant crash today.

The only solution I found so far, is to either save in an unmodded or a pretty small interior, as these saves seem to load fine, OR - and that's what I do all the time, as the crash only happens when I first load a game - to keep a save that definitely loads to 'start up' the game.

Like NkedSkyrim said - get a clean save somewhere in Quasmoke or somewhere you know it WILL load, and whenever you start your gaming session, load that save first, and from there load your current savegame. It may not be the perfect solution, but it works. Especially as you seem to be able to load ANY savegame after that.

So do you mean that 24 hours in game must pass before you save? or load up another save?

Yes if the time in-game is for example 8am, don't save until it becomes 8am again, it's not like a rule set in stone or anything but more of a guideline.

A bad example would be: load game > fuck someone for 12hours > save game

A good one: load game > go some place, new town, outside etc > fuck someone > go back > save game

I can't give any science behind this but since I started doing it I can almost always 9/10 load a save from the main menu without issue.

But only if it's done following the first advice, as in don't install/uninstall a ton of mods mid-game.

Why save if you just dive into the game to fuck someone? Who cares about the SL statistics anyway? xD

This is fairly common, out of curiosity if you try and load the 2nd save after the CtD does it work? For me that use to be the case so i assume it has something to do with skyrim trying to load to much stuff at once, like most people i spent a while trying to work out the problem before just using the work around of saving a new game as early as possible and then loading into my "safe" save game and from there loading into my actual play save game

I wouldn't. that's kinda the point I am making here.
