UPDATE:

ran out of ideas and just reinstalled mod organizer. I am now able to start the game via MO without getting the error. Will update again after I test out an ENB and some other mods.

I recently tried to play Skyrim again but I was unable to due to this error: Failed to initialize renderer, Bad Adapter number or no adapter found. This was pretty weird since the last time I played was less than a month ago and I haven't changed anything since. Followed the suggestions that I found through google like deleting the skyrim ini files in the My Games folder and generate new ini files by using the skyrim launcher. This didn't work since the launcher would crash whenever it tried to detect my video card.

I tried to run the launcher through the NVIDIA control panel and actually got the game to run so I optimized the settings to have updated ini files (another thing that I noticed was that the optimization changed the resolution to 2715x.1527 even though my monitor's resolution is 1920x1080). Thinking that I solved the problem, I ran Skyrim through Mod organizer like I usually do but still got the same error. However, I noticed that if I ran the TESV.exe, skyrim launcher.exe, or SKSE via Mod organizer, I'd get the bad adapter error but if I ran TESV.exe, skyrim launcher.exe, and SKSE.exe without Mod Organizer, I would not get the error and could play the game except without any mods.

Drivers are up to date, have a gtx 970, and I haven't installed any new mods since I last played. The fact that I can run the game just fine if I don't launch the game with MO indicates that there I probably don't have to reinstall Skyrim but that there may be a problem with MO instead. Just wondering if anyone has some advice on how to fix the issue without reinstalling MO and all of my mods.

MO has it's own instance of Skyrims iNi files, so you need to launch Skyrims Launcher (or any other program that alters Skyrims iNi files) thru MO to have those settings take effect in an Skyrim that was launched thru MO.

MO has an iNi editor that you find find under the Tools button. There you can verify the settings Skyrim is launched with thru MO.

My problem is that I get the error whenever I launch any of the programs through MO (SKSE, TESV.exe, Skyrim Launcher.exe). I checked the ini files for each of my profiles in MO but nothing seems out of the ordinary. Only thing that is different when compared to the INIs from the my games folder are the lines under the Audio subheading in the SkyrimPref.ini.

Can't attach the file so here are the lines if anyone wants to take a look.

You can ignore those entries and i'm out of guesses, because i'm sure if it would be an error caused by multiple graphic adapters, you would have already solved it.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it. I'll spend a little bit more time trying to fix the issue before I resort to reinstalling MO
