ElizLestrad Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I need some advice from the modding community. I've been trying to get a model made and skinned for Skyrim to put into a mod that I am making, and have so far had little lucky. I've tried Nexus, here, TES Eyecandy (though it seems mostly dead)... I've even tried through DeviantArt with no luck. I've started contacting private contractors as a fallback point but want to know if there are any other large modding commutities to post a request on?
thesapien Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Am I reading that right? You're requesting a special mod be made and if no one is wanting to do it then you're willing to contract the work? Wow, that's awesome if I got it right. If it works out, maybe start a website for others interested in doing just that, too. If the site got big enough, with lots of deep pockets and lots of talented modders, you could probably even one day make your own games!

[/quote'] Well, no, I'm requesting a model being made (you could say not even the texture at this point)...not the mod itself (which I have every intention of doing personally once I can get the model completed and skinned. And from what I've seen on other forums it appears its easier to find someone whose willing to convert a pre-existing model (something from 3ds Max for example) to work in a game (be it Fallout, Oblivion, Skyrim, what-have-you) and put a texture on it, than it is to find someone to make a model from scratch (apparantly). But back to your question, yes, I am considering every option its that important. I've been researching both individual and private commercial entities to find a modeller with the skill to do both a good job and do it as cost effectively as possible. And to the last part no, I do not have, nor will I ever have, the intention of taking it that far. I'm just trying to get one simple piece of armor done and am pretty much willing to do whatever is (reasonably) necessary (within budget) to see it through. Especially since I've already thrown down $50 just for the line art for the armor I designed.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Just don't waste your cash on those guys at bethesda, they kinda suck.
Nonsense667 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 You know, that is indeed an interesting idea thesapien. A site with "modders for hire," essentially. I'm kind of surprised that I don't think I've seen it brought up before.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I first saw it back around the turn of the century.
ElizLestrad Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Anywho, back on point...other mod sites for Skyrim apart from the ones I mentioned already? -Skyrim Nexus -TES Eyecandy -Here (Loverslab)
snarfies Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Welllll.... There's the Engineering Guild (http://www.theengineeringguild.co.uk/). But the guy who runs it is a bit of a pariah (http://www.iguanadons.net/Giskard-and-False-Accusations-372.html)
lemonbalm Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Canadian Ice Forum: http://grotto.moddersrealm.com/index.php TES Adventures: http://tesadventures.com/forum/index.php TES Alliance: http://www.tesalliance.org/index.php/index.php Edit: Bit of warning though. Nexus moderators are active on these sites as well and on Candian Ice, Dante is a moderator.
Guest Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 There's also Planet Elder Scrolls, but it's a "meh"ish site.
