landess Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 I recently added Sexlab College Days to my list to go with Immersive College of Winterhold. I started a new mage and it's a blast. But.... I realized that my other mage (50+) was still having to dance around coffins, spamming spells to get the job done. Scotty - I need more power! So I started looking at Magic Mods. O.o After more than an hour of eyebleed I realized almost every magic mod wants to reinvent the wheel. That's fine as more is always better. Right? Not being interested in learning a bunch of new spells, having a mod interfere with alchemy and enchanting as they stand, etc., I looked at the newest files instead of the most downloaded or endorsed and found one called "Full Magic Scaling". Knowing alot of mods are no longer supported or kept up to date, the simplicity of this one got my attention. 5 magic schools: leveled to your use of the perk tree that lowers cost in that specific school. So by master you have increased it's ability by 100%. Now add the other perks and magic is again fun as you level past 50. I just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone interested. Once again it's: Full Magic Scaling by ilovecarpet http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76433/? Winterhold was one of the last places I got around to 'upgrading'. Sexlab College Days, ICW, and JK's WInterhold are what I'm using now with no conflicts. You'll likely have to reinstall any Glam mods as ICW does change NPC's.
Gameplayer Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Well I did make a mod that's called "finally a better vanilla potion experience" Now here's the thing, I simply extended the amount of time that you can use fortify potions and also handled the heal pots so those were not as overpowered as before. So why is that relevant to magic users? Cause Magic users were meant to use Fortify Spell School potions but who in their right mind wants to carry a satchel of those? No one so I made it so those fortify pots actually last a good long while... So that means you could simply use a pot that grants 30% more damage for fire/frost/lightning....Basically it does the same thing without overpowering the actual trees.
landess Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 If my post leads anyone to believe I had anything to do with this mod other than downloading or mentioning it, please forgive me, as it wasn't my intention. Trying to RP a mage means (to me) no armor or any weapons other than a back-up staff or 2 and a pickaxe. This leaves a fair amount of space for carrying a lot of potions, ingredients, soulstones, etc. I'll look into your mod as it would increase my alchemy withour being OP'd as you mention. I just don't want to use the same old exploits, be they intentional game design (enchanting to zero mana cost) or not. Thanks for bringing this up.
