strobe light in third person

Hello,

 

Some time ago I've noticed that I have a bug that occurs ONLY in third person:

In some places lights flicker like o strobe light, very fast (like a faulty bulb or something). It occurs only in some places and only on some camera angles.

I don't know if it's recent problem or I just noticed it now, but it's getting on my nerves.

The weird thing is that it doesn't happen in first person, only in third.

 

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I'm using ELFX, but I don't think it's the culprit.

You have likely installed 2 mods that are both adding lighting to those area's where you are noticing the strobing effect.

 

Skyrim can only handle 3 shadow casting lights in one area and beyond that you end up with what you just described.

Its actually really easy to end up with this.

 

Just install say Enhanced Lighting with say another mod....Darn cant think of it now.

Hmm, I don't think so. It even happened in custom cell, that ELFX doesn't touch and with only one light source.

As I said, it happens only in third person.

 

Could it be some ini setting? Maybe faulty ENB?

I use ELFX myself, and i always belived that it was a conflict with other mods or textures but seems its not quite simple.

For example, the easiest and most common place to test it is the prison cell where you start if you have Alternative Start: Live another Life, You can spot that "flickering" light as you approach from different angles to the mara statue. I always thought it was an ELFX-LAL conflict but, in my case at least,  depending on wich ENB i was using the problem did not happen!

With Real vision, i had the bug. With Grim and somber, i did not.

So, its an ENB problem? Cant be entirely sure either, since i never tried removing ELFX

 

I honestly never digged much into this matter since it only happens to me in 3 or maybe 4 spots in the whole tamriel.

If you happen to investigate this matter and find a solution / answer, please post it !

I am not sure this is what he means. When you have more than 3 light sources one of the lighting kind of "stops working", making areas darker than they should, but the light doesnt "flicker"

 

I wanted to post some screenshots but now i do no have that bug anymore

Seems like it got fixed with an update...(just a guess) but i have no clue wich one or when since i do not play a new game in months

I know what you are talking about, but my problem is different.

In my game the light acts like a strobe light...

It's incredibly annoying and (what is weird) it only happens when I'm in third person.

I know this is a major necro on this post, but I need to make mention of how I fixed my shadow strobing issue.
Racemenu was the culprit. Only happened in 3rd person, got a weird long shadow above my character's head, the environment around me was strobing like you mentioned and was nauseating. I downgraded racemenu and that ended up being the culprit.

I hope this helps someone with this issue that comes across this

Ultimatejim you deserve a damn medal, was having the issue with the shadow above the head removing and flickering throught fog aswell as my characters eyes went black. Been searching for several days on this issue and couldnt find anything, disabled racemenu and everything is fixed!
