Can't recruit Serana with EFF.

I recently installed this followers management mod, but for some reason i can't use it with Serana. Well the only option to do so, is to force recruit her with a command. It does works but i've read somewhere i should do it.

For the record, i do have killed the boss of the DLC (Serana' father). I know Serana script is some kind different from the other vanilla followers, but is there any way to make EFF works with her ?

After you kill Harkon, when she ask you if you want her, you should tell her that you want her as a companion. And she will follow you autonomously. After that, she will be "unlocked" for any follower mod (UFO, AFT, EFF). Don't use/force Serana as follower before you accept her in your "team", and after killing Harkon, of course. It may break up her Vanilla's AI.

EFF is compatible with Serana but if you had any other follower mod before EFF, you should do a clean save before installing EFF.

I see, i did force her in a previous save :/ I guess im now fucked. I did reset EFF with the "clean" button in the option, but i guess its too late ?

Yeap. too late. I did same mistake with AFT long time ago. I forced her as follower using AFT before she killed Harkon and I couldn't get rid of her. :)

Anyhow, if you have some earlier save, before you recruited her with EFF, load it.

About clean save: I don't mean EFF clean save, but clean save using your save cleaner tool.

Maybe this might help but no warantyp: OK, uninstall EFF, clean your save with Save cleaner tool. Load cleaned save and save the game on the new slot. Install EFF, load the game and save the game in the new slot. Load the game and try to use EFF on her.

No, not without force recruiting her. Serana cannot normally be managed through EFF.

Sorry, but you're wrong. :)  She can be managed by EFF, but only after killing Harkon.

If force recruited she will be managed, but selecting the original recruiting option, "Come with me." will recruit her using her original follower framework from Dawnguard, not EFF. I use EFF in my own game and she cannot be managed without force recruiting, even after completing the Dawnguard questline.

If you're using AFT, she CAN be recruited under that. That's because AFT edits the quest that handles the recruiting of vanilla followers, removing the voice type restriction.

EFF does not make those edits, nor does it alter Serana's follower system in any way to point to the follower extension quest.

When i started to play Skyrim I "inherited" AFT mod from my father. Didn't like it and I uninstall it and installed UFO; didn't like it too and after that I installed EFF and started a new game. Since I have very good mod that changes Serana's outlook I started Dawngard quest very early. Right after Durak approached to me in Whiterun after the vampire's attack. When i killed Harkon, Serana asked me if she can join me in my travels. I accepted her and then I managed her with EFF. Had no problem at all. Didn't need to do any console command or/and any other forcing method.

by the time I kind disliked EFF and returned to AFT. Again, I started Dawnguard quest early and finished it. The only mistake I did was I "Managed her with AFT" before completing the main quest. So I couldn't dismiss her and she never got cured from vampirism. AFT changed her Vanilla's AI. So, I reverted to the save before I "consumed "her with AFT and all went well afterward.

Anyhow, my point is this: I'm not denying your "Serana-EFF" problem, but mine experience was different then yours and it is the same with many others who uses EFF. Also, author of the mod didn't listed Serana as incompatible with his mod, get any complain or report of mod incompatibility with Serana. So, it must work. Those who wrote about Serana-EFF issue on other forums "confessed" that they made mistake by managed her with EFF before completing the final quest. After doing the quest properly, they said all worked fine with EFF and Serana. If it doesn't, then problem is somewhere else (bad installation, having not all requirements or updated required mods and so on and so on).

Since I finished Dawnguard quest 7 times (using AFT) all I can say - don't manage Serana with any follower mod before completing final quest.

Well, barring something obvious that I've missed, there's nothing included in EFF that indicates Serana can be managed. Sure, she's compatible with EFF, she just can't be managed under it. It's similar to Cicero and the Dark Brotherhood Initiates, they're compatible, they just can't be managed. The exception to this would be if you had previously force recruited them, or have another mod that edits the quest that handles follower recruiting (which Serana, Cicero, and the DB Initiates don't normally follow).

I'd rather not argue and bicker about this because we'd just end up going back and forth continuously (I don't know about you, but I'd rather not do that). So, I'll just end by saying that in my modding experience of making compatibility patches for EFF (and other follower overhauls), resolving mod conflicts, etc, I do not see anything that would suggest Serana can normally be managed under EFF.

Your experience may be totally different from mine, and that's fine. And if someone shows me something obvious that I've missed, I'll gladly raise my hand and admit that I was wrong.

Swissenergy - I apologize if I sounded like i wanted to argue. that wasn't my intention at all. Sorry if I sounded so. :)  All I wanted was to emphasize the point that EFF should work with Serana. Why is not working in someone's game, I wouldn't know.

Anyhow... don't take my arguments as attack on you please, because they weren't...I'm not attacking anybody.. It's the way I'm writing and it's the lack of better expression since english is not my native English. Wish you all good... :)
